i bought guildwars when it first came out, and ive tried playing it like 5 times, making a new guy each time. every time i play, i get up to about level 11 and then loose interest. i really wanna get into this game, because every one says how awesome it is. also i never tried playing the PVP mode. what should i do? is there a certain class thats fun to play?

The game doesn't really start untill you're level 20 is one thing that's important to know, also what campaign do you have? I'm assuming prophesies, have you ever gotten out of the start area? (Where Ascalon and surrounding area's are all still pretty etc) Once past there you can group with more people, get acces to more skills and the game world increasing 100 fold. So give some details at where you're at and we can give you some better suggestions

The big question is:
What would the game have to include so that you would consider it to be fun?
If we'd know that- maybe we could point you in the direction that might be interesting to you?

But then again - maybe GW just isn't your kind of a fun game.

I'm sure you only have Prophecies. It seems like the leveling is just too slow for you. If you buy Factions or Nightfall, which has a faster leveling pace, you might be a little more interested. Or it could be that your repeating the same content again and again sense you are making new characters each time. There is also the chance that Guild Wars isn't for you, as it isn't for everyone.

Something that will help others is saying how far you usually get.

Not knowing how far you get, my suggestions are:
First, make sure your out of pre, getting to level 11 in pre is VERY boring, and pointless. There is no need to grind levels in Guild Wars, as each game levels you in accordance to monster level of where you are, so just do the storyline.
Second, try getting farther then you usually do when you get bored. This is probably the most likely thing to help you out.
Third, you can try buying Factions or Nightfall, as those games level faster, which might be your problem. I would hold off on this if I were you because if it doesn't help, then it would be a waste of money.
If those fail, I think Guild Wars just isn't for you.

To me PvP isn't that fun after a while, but to each man his own, so give it a shot at least.

Edit:
Ok, so you make it to the Northern Shiverpeaks. That's not very far but it's farther then Pre-searing at least. The game gets more interesting later on usually, depending on the person. If you like a challenge, then PvP and end-game areas are for you, which needs you to level, so Factions would help you with that, however you can still get to lvl 20 in Prophecies easily.

I suggest, that the next time you try playing GW, do NOT start a new character (going through the Ascalon missions over and over just makes it worse, trust me, no matter how much time you spend between them, it never gets better or stays as good).

I've always found this mentality curious. Why do you feel that you somehow have to "get into" this game? You've allegedly tried this on five separate occasions and failed to find it fun - why would you try again? Why wouldn't you just go play something that you didn't have to actually try to get into?

alot of my friends play it, and i thought maybe i wasnt playing it right. Maplestory is a very level grinding based game. Maybe thats why GW wasnt working for me. i failed to realize that its quest based.

if you try and don't like it, you should stop playing, and quickly uninstalled it. but you might want to back up guild wars as it take a great deal of time to download :P, otherwise it'll only bore you to death.

think of bad experience with "never winter nights 2" O.o dies.

The start is pretty slow, especially in proph. Later on it gets more interesting. What character did u play with also?

Just keep playing. All games are pointless. But after a long time, you can look at the mirror and say ,,I managed to kill some precious time''. And it will feel wonderful.

If you are in Proph, create a Necro and promise yourself to go forward in the game and to not delete and repeat the same path.

As a necro player I have to QFT this

Seriously though, get to level 20. Might be long in Prophecies but if you do it, chances are that you'll start liking the game more. Get builds, get into farming, in PvP, pay attention to the lore... I don't know, different people like different things. But really, this game is better when you've reached max level. You feel more effective and you get a lot more possibilities.

I found that the first chunk of the game, all the way until I reached Lion's Arch, was...not always exciting. I really got into doing the quests, though, and that helped; reaching Kryta--really, the next area after where you have been--helped, too. The storyline changes, and you can really explore the lands with some more freedom, too.

Also, the game will alter quite a bit for you at level 20, and when you finish the missions.

Level 20 and "ascended" allows you access to several higher-end areas, and you'll find it a bit easier to join groups.

If you find yourself going too slow, I guess you can concentrate on doing the missions--after you finish each mission, you usually find yourself in the next mission, or doing one short primary quest to get to the next mission.
This will speed up the game for you, allow you to finish the game, and allow you to join groups for vanquishing areas, which is really rather fun.

However...the game and its world rather fascinated me from the start, so I didn't have to "get into it." Hope you find a way to like it.
