I got my fow by farming the hell out of fow and uw for my materials, crafting the deldrimor steel instead of buying, and farming doa and selling armbraces.

I have the necessary stuff for one FoW set stashed away solely for the unlikely event that ANet makes the decision of linking some GW2 unlock directly to the existence of a FoW set in HoM instead of any five prestige sets.

If that happens, I will buy one set, record that in HoM, then recycle it. If HoM is confirmed to work as I expect it to work, I'll just give the stuff to anybody who wants a FoW set. Personally, I find the set unbearably ugly regardless of profession (save possibly female mesmer, but mine prefers elite Canthan anyway).

About the question itself ... it's just one million here or there, who cares?

Farmed Ettins for golds back when super abs n Vigor was 100k .... seems like an age has passed since then.

took about a month to get the money ... ectos were about 14k each then >.<

Never had a set; likely never will. I'm not going to claim it's ugly...but it doesn't do anything for me, at least as far as my two major characters are concerned. Ranger and rit armors...meh, there are better elite sets.

Yeah, I think most people buy it because they have way too much time on their hands to make money (by entering cheatcodes for permasin, etc builds). Like-minded individuals with too much time to spend on a game think it's the "in thing" so people continue to waste their money on it to show off.

We didn't have enough online for GvG at the time so I decided to join a couple of my guildies on a HM FoW run, monking for usranway. I ended up getting a Req. 9 Voltaic Spear from the end chest.

Pretty lucky for only my second time actually completing FoW.

Oh, I did have some gold/ecto sitting in storage from selling Zaishen Keys.

This was back when Prophecies was the only game around and Factions was just coming out. When Factions first came out certain items had a lot of value like Chittin Fragments, Red Dye, and other strange materials used for Factions armour crafting so I made a lot of money farming that back then and earned enough to buy the armour. For some reason everyone wanted to dye their Assasins armour red back during the Factions release.

Only have one set for my female necro. My other chars which I rarely play do not have it.

I got all my sets by asking people if I could see their armor in my inventory, they said yes, so I salvaged it for the ectos. I repeated this process until I had enough ectos for my 4 sets of FoW.

To answer the question, I haven't/won't get the armor yet, but if i did, it'd have to be alot of farming, and a lot of saving. Every gold counts.

Wow, ok do you just take handouts from everywhere? I mean at least you bought ONE set yourself (not really cause you just got ran for that one). Kinda sad how some ppl want things but don't take the initiative to get it themselves

1st set- Occassional uw runs (oldschool, back in 06),... didn't like the look of the ele= delete GG.

2nd set- New ele, and this set came from elona reach running and other sorts of runs and prot bond (and then prot spirit) smite solos

3rd set- Rit, came mostly from powertrading

4th set- Derv, came from solo sandstorm ele farming along with solo rit farming and powertrading.

Meh, its just a game to me. I've met/known plenty of people who had their FoW sets bought for them, I don't see myself as being any different to them.

Got my first set long before SF farming, got it through VwK smite farming, powertrading, and spreading it out over a long period (first helmet, then boots + legs few months later, then finally chest and gloves a few months after that) so patients was the key for me

Second set for my para I shamelessly admit to having farmed up over 1 weekend with SF

Powertraded like crazy for 2 months! Farmed till i had 100k; than started trading mostly rare mods/ inscriptions. Sundering/ Fortitude sword mods, Luck of the draw and Forget me Not. Made 5k to 15k profit on each! On peak moments sometimes 10 per hour. Than started power trading ectos when i got my first million. Bought (in ToA) and sold (Kamadan/ Lions Arch) them by the stack. Made up to 4 million k in 2 months. Bought a Stygian Reaver 1 month before the release of EotN for 600 ecto! You know the rest....Got so upset that i gave up on trading all together. Now title hunting is all that matters; but nothing... I repeat; nothing beats the power trade.... except for the once in a lifetime lucky drop.

First set, some 2.5 years ago, was and *is* the only Obsidian armor I like. Female Mesmer. I rarely play her, but I've 55-monked Hydras, Trolls, Griffons and Giants by the thousands to get her that armor.

Second set, 8 months ago, female monk. Bought it just to display it in HoM. It's too ugly to be seen wearing one. Although, I'm thinking of dyeing it black, getting a ninja mask, Chaos Gloves and a Tormented Shield once I get my GWAMM. Also, buying a larger monitor that can display my e-peen correctly.

farmed 80% of mats. ( I used to live in UW/FoW), Then Sorrows Furnace came out, so I farmed there for awhile, sold the greens, then bought the rest of the mats

My Guild Leader gave me the boots and gloves (Rit) for my birthday..

That was when rit and ass'n FoW came out.
Prettiest parts of the Rit armor IMHO.

haha I remember Beetledun and farming the Ettins for there ruins in 05... thats how I started making my money than I just started buying and selling stuff and a few lucky drops from UW and FoW, I remember getting a few gold Chaos axes and selling them for like 50k-80k....

My first set, R/Me solo forest runs + stored cash from back in the old days of Minotaur 55 farming...took a while.

My second set, I did UW 55/SS and 600/Smite + FoW 600/Smite + 55 farming here and there. I got a donation from a friend of a large number of ectos shortly before he quit the game, so that helped.

My third set, I 600/Smite for the gloves and boots, and then did A/E and got the final 2 pieces in as many days.

Three accounts and three months of Zaishen key selling finally got me the armor.
Our guild consists of three people, we don't farm or ever buy expensive stuff but the recent higher Zaichen Key prices got all of us FoW.
Next few months of keys are for weapons in the hall.

[edit] Oh, the keys are from predictions only because we "lack the skill" to do proper PvP

Got a Voltaic Spear drop in the first few weeks of EotN which paid for 90% of mine. I doubt I would have ever been able to afford it otherwise as farming isn't my cup of tea.
