guru redirect attempting installation

opened a thread, redirect and then an installation(firefox1.8) began, i reflexed my net connection and browser like it was 1/4 sec cast. There was a pop behind the browser but i didnt see it as i pounded altf4 and it went down with out finishing loading. Nothing in windows/firefox logs, flash and java up to date. Anyone experience something similar? I didnt see the address or file extention as it went down fast. Now i wish i had let it complete.

There is no Fx 1.8.
