Playable Races

i don't know if this has been discussed (outside of my group of friends/guild) but seriously.

why aren't Tengu's a playable race?

seriously, who wouldn't want to play them over asurans or norns. even the charr or sylvari...

They're pretty much basing the races on EoTN, it seems.

The Tengus are too insignificant :/

I'm sure they're saving the tengu for a Canthan expansion or something. They've also said before that the announced races aren't going to be the only ones.

they're races from eotn they're taking
tengu's are from factions
don't start about the caromi tengu now
they didn't play an important role in eotn

They aren't a playable race because they aren't. /shrug.

Wait for the inevitable Cantha expansion pack for GW2 for more playable races.

lets set aside the argument of whether Tengu's are relavent to Tyria or not. because they are.

Who wouldn't want to play a Tengu. Do you really want to wait 2 years after the first GW2 game before rolling (re-rolling) your tengu fighter?

I'd rather be a Sylvari cause I don't know anything about them.

TBH I don't really care if they leave them out or put them in.

whats to stop them having unannouced races for gw2, or infact to add more with an expansion.

like all things associated with gw2, wait and see.

Hey, I voted at the time for Tengu and Centaurs as playable races, as well as either Naga or Forgotten (and of course Charr and Humans). I guess fancy armor for non-humans would have been a bit too tricky. And I'd love to see the Centaur versions of /dance

I thought it was pretty sad they came up with 3 new races instead of using some that were already on so many continents and had so much history in the game. And it would have been a lot easier to make them class-neutral.

I am pretty sure they will intorduce more races with expansions. I just hope they introduce these guys as a playable race.

I dont understand why we have a sudden flux in race threads. Is the whole idea of political correctness suddenly being drilled into peoples mindless heads?

Tengu probably do not fit into G2's agenda therefore will not be a race.

I could make a thread (for lack of a better word) "complaining" about why I cant be a Mergoyle and it would be no different.

They had comments before that there were going to be more races than the 5 announced, but the recent FAQ on the official site suggests that those 5 are the only ones. I hope not, I like others better (see above).

No, cause in the world of GW2, tengu are farmed for food.

Having new races in expansions as a "buy me!" gimmick is far more appealing than new (imba) classes. Maybe there is hope for GW2 PvP.

How do you know tengu's don't fit into GW2 Tengu's span 2 continents and play a critical role in cantha.

the mursaat would be a nice playable race though.
