Will Anet release info or a teaser of GW2 at E3?

I personally don't think it'll happen, but its a good little wishful thought I can indulge in. I honestly don't know where else Anet would want to release their first piece of info, right now it seems like every PC owner is most truly psyched about Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 (rightfully so I might add)- So what are they going to do? Anet is just gunna clam up until the release of those? And hope that a crowd had waited around long enough but still have people who will be re-interested? I believe the smartest thing to do is release information or at least a teaser, (A game play demo would be amazing as well) but all in all the point would be to have this bundle released when the hype train is the slowest for Blizzard's game, the period of time when the least amount of info is released and its really just a countdown of months and weeks till the games on shelves. Their only real option is to just have a trickle of information strategically pin pointed at certain times to just keep enough hype around, at least enough for people to be able to say "I'm waiting on GW2" and actually HAVE a reason to be. Unless Blizzard stalls long enough, its either GW2 or the blizzard titles coming in before the other one or after. And I'll put it bluntly, "hard core" pc gamers could consider using GW2 as a "time filler" while they wait for D3 and SC2, but they would never even think about doing that in reverse order.

ANet is now looking at a WHOLE lot of competition, especially now with Dragon Age (as if D3 wasn't enough). So whatever the case is, they need to show us something. Otherwise, they're going to be in a bit more trouble.

Hopefully they will release a bit but I thought I heard anet wasn't going to be at E3, maybe I'm wrong. With gw2 though, its not like people can't buy D3 and GW2 because both don't have a subscription fee. If GW2 looks good, then people will buy it.

Dragon Age is being poorly hyped right now by Bioware in my opinion, if its really the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2- they should be showing game play because that is what those people care about. I can see how they are taking the flashy approach with pretty eye candy, but if its for PC they don't need to- this shouldn't be like them trying to sell mass effect to console gamers. If anything as of right now, they're sadly still doing better then GW2 on the hype levels. If anything GW2 could at least compete with them, and secure maybe a 3rd spot.

I think Anet isnt even going to E3 this year, i know NCsoft isnt. With NCsoft being the company that reserves the booths for Anet to showcase their game/games i dont think Anet will be there this year. Also i think Anet would have at least mentioned that they would be at E3 by now if they were going to be there, so dont get your hopes up for any new GW2 news during E3 (if we do get any GW2 news it will all be the same stuff weve alrdy gotten).

Really, i think that the next major event that you can expect to see anything major about GW2 would have to be PAX (Penny Arcade Expo in Seatle for those that dont know) on Aug 29-31. However, even PAX is looking to be more of a GW1 feature this year with tournaments, meet and greets with Anet staff, and a Party on that saturday night. Perhaps the only time we will get to hear about GW2 will be during Anets time on the panel when they rehash everything they have alrdy said about GW2 (hopefully they will have a screenshot to show by then). By the way the majority of this info was found in Regina Buenaobra's July 3rd Journal on the official Wiki.

I'd say they'd show something at PAX, because that's something they directly participate in, versus going to E3 through NCsoft.

Dragon Age isn't really a "competitor." You play the game for 40-100 hours and then you're done until the sequel for most people. They aren't planning the same level of multiplayer or modding support as with Neverwinter. (Not as if most of that market ended up being multiplayer anyway... less than 15% of sold copies even tried to get online.)

The Exhibitor's List for E3 this year has no mention of either NCSoft or ANet. So I would expect no info to be unveiled there. I would think that they'll just let Blizzard have E3 this year, with WotLK and Diablo 3 (though I think Blizz themselves are pushing D3 more than Wrath).

As someone suggested, PAX would be the more likely place for anything to be seen. Doubtless, I'm sure GW2 will be fun, and look forward to the beta.

NCSoft decided not to go to E3. They will be at PAX though. We'll just have to wait until then.

E3's lost most of its appeal anyway. Not really a big issue.
I hope Anet makes a strong showing at PAX - the community could use the shot in the arm.

How was SC2 announced? After a big lan party for the original SC hosted by Blizzard. What is Anet doing at PAX? Hosting a big lan party.

Here's hoping anyway.

Just as I wasn't expecting a beta this year (or even next year), I'm not expecting any news either.

This is the most likely scenario. Also didn't Gaile say they were releasing GW2 screen shots/information this year? If so, this is the most likely time to do it.

No on E3 and as per the link below Arenanet will be at PAX but not listed as showing Guild Wars 2 which if this is true it really is mind boggling. Instead Guild Wars fans will be able to compete in some kind of tournament.

Diablo 3 isn't a MMO, none of the Diablo titles are....stop acting like they are, their a totally different game from what GW is. An action/RPG, a dungeon crawler, hack and slash, nothing more nothing less, thats what makes it so golden

And I hope they do, hell they hope they do. GWs is forgotten, there's tons of other stuff coming out soon, f2p or not, they need to get some info out there be it E3/PAX or a mag. So far the few times they have said anything about GW2, they have said the same thing over and over just reworded.

Anet will be attending the Leipzig GC from August 21st - 24th.

IF they are planning on releasing some GW2 info, that would be the most obvious place to do it.

No guys, Anet has gone bankrupt and are not even planning on releasing GW2. They are trying to keep it hush, hush for now. Sad day.

the stupid desperate tactics of Anet seems to be, to wait soo long with the important infos about GW2, until its short before release, so that maybe lesser people will leave too quick the sinking ship, when people should not like, how GW2 will be ...

sucks ... sigh -.-

they should give us finally something, that tells us somethign bigger about GW2's Gameplay Systems, so tha we can better imagine, what awaits us there in like 2 Years.
They had absolutely enough time to work on GW2 yet, to be able to show us at least some Concept Pictures -.-

"Poorly hyped"? The game is going to have "Bioware" on the box. I think that's pretty much enough to cause hype on it's own.

ArenaNet is going to be in a huge bit of trouble now that Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 is coming out. They need to think of something quick before their players go on into different games.

Doubt they will show anything about GW2 in E3 because I don't think they have anything to show at this time.

I am pretty sure that the amount of fanboys that immediately buy it, will not impress EA! Besides Diablo3 has Blizzard on its box and they actually showed gameplay!

Well according to Gaile this is what we were going to get in '08.

For one thing, you can look for a newly-designed website in the coming year. We're going to launch what will be pretty much a totally new site, while keeping the existing site going, as well.

For another, we'll be showing off Guild Wars 2 in concept art, in-game cinematics, screenshots, wallpapers, and much more. There will be so much to learn about Guild Wars 2, and we can't wait to show it to you!

We'll have a lot of Guild Wars 2 contests, too!

And of course you know we plan the Guild Wars 2 beta test in 2008.

So this is definitely an exciting year coming up!
I think might get a cinematic or some concept art at PAX.

Here is where I got the quote from.

You've thought more honestly about it than they have, from what I can tell so far. They can't keep just not saying anything forever; even the most dedicated will eventually migrate.

I'm just going to say one thing on this subject.

first off, on the thread title, Anet will not be at E3, there was an article on gamespot I think (dont have the link)

Now as for GW2, there is one simple thing, no matter how long they keep quiet, as soon as people hear there is a GW2 out, they will look up on it/buy it straight away.

Either out of curiousity (sp?), because its F2P or because they want to continue what they started in GW (I'm aiming this mainly at people who have played GW, they may get more people to GW2 because of new stuff ie persistence worlds)

We'll see concept art and other stuff soon enough, just be paitent and go play other games, There is nothing forcing you to play GW every day from dawn til dusk, no monthly fee.

That said, I hope they release info on GW2 before the end of the year because it will come quick enough (last year went quick enough anyway <_< )

There is apparrently some concept art out already. Though, for the life of me I can't figure out which is from GW2.

The only "iffy" games in Bioware's whole library have been that one tank one (like their first game) and MDK, but that still received good reception. After that they've sold nothing but good and near revolutionary games. Baldur's Gate I & II, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass effect...All have done amazingly good.

And just because they have "EA" on their box doesn't mean they're held at knifepoint. Valve is with EA, yet they're still relying on Valve-time.

It would be like trying to whisper in a room full of screaming people and be heard. If they wait about 3 months, and there will be little to no new stuff heard about SC2 or D3 (except for maybe some new pieces of concept art) and then it's their perfect time to strike.

In almost exactly 3 months, there's Blizzcon(October 10th and 11th). That's a huge convention with a lot of hype traditionally.
