Question regarding Ascension

I am new to the game if I only have Factions can I still ascend? If I purchase another one say the North one or Nightfalls can I ascend or do I have to have Guild Wars?

I have Factions but I am interested only in getting North or Nightfalls.. but if I can't ascend with them I wanted to know. Ty

you can ascend in any of the 3 campaigns- eye of the north is an expansion so not for that.

Since you only have factions you have to finish the naphui quarter mission which will make you become "Weh no Su" or in other words closer to the stars.

Ascending in Prophecies is still more fun though.

Factions is by far the easiest game to ascend in, since it doesn't take very long, But you can ascend in all of them.

quicker in factions but in Nightfall, its easier (the mission for it that is)

Prophecies is the hardest and longest one out of them all imo
