does the above computer's RAM/processor be able to handle GW, AVG, AIM, and one mozilla window all at once?
will the graphics card be able to support guild wars without making my armor dull green (from vibrant greens)
will it run GW with 55-70 FPS?
will switching between an IM/mozilla and GW lag me?
I WILL NOT TAKE ANY CHANGES/RECOMMENDATIONS
THANKS

That should do what you want it to. With 1 exception. Vista, I love vista but that systems specs for what you want it to do, will do it on xp for sure. About lag, that is going to depend on your internet connection more so than that comps specs. so depending on what you are doing with the browser(like watching you tube),IM and game you may lag.

If you can, don't use the wireless. Use a nice, stable wired connection to your modem/router.
Switching between fullscreen apps and Windows can cause "lag" on even the highest-end systems. That's a good enough lappy to cope with all those progs, though.

You will be able to do all that and more if your connection is good enough - I would really try to get XP instead of Vista if you can though, that system will scream with XP and just be average on Vista (depending on what you do with your laptop you may not notice it too much if you are a "casual" user).

Actually all he needs to do is go with the 2 gig ram and increase his page file to 4 gig and disable areo and it will scream. Though i would even get a better vid card. but thats jsut me.

His mind is made up anyway, otherwise I'd say to never buy direct from manufacturers. Also, as a rule of thumb, if you can use your laptop on your lap, it's no good for gaming

I know about wirelessness, but HP only offers as low as vista home premium, and I am iffy about any site besides manufacturers
and I was also hoping for use with aero (love the glassness) but will it be a huge difference?
most of the parts are the highest possible choice they offer (besides ram and processor, the graphics card is the highest I can choose, as well as others

im used to both slow and fast (mostly slow)
will more ram help run those apps and aero?
or is 2 enough?

2 is minimum. Go for 4GB and either get Vista x64, or stick with the 32-bit version and "lose" half a gig.

yeah, if you can get more than 2 GB than go for it..... Vista with all bells and whistles needs at least that much and more is better.......... or get XP

Get the vista 64 instead of 32, if you can. Also, get 4 gigs of ram if possible.
The aero theme uses around 512+ of ram idling before you move your mouse, this is before you "customize" anything. I use 8 gigs of ram on vista 64 and have really never used more than 48%, unless I was benchmarking, so 4 gigs will work very nicley.

oh, my friends told me 64 is not needed for GW, but i'll switch
4 gigs is way too expensive, 3 is even a stretch for me
will 2 -> 3 make a ton of difference?
EDIT
my friends laptop can run AIM, a couple of security things, aero, GW, and mozilla with zero problems (and running on vista ultimate)
and we have the same Internet :I
so, does this mean 3gigs of ram is too much?
