A Question About Account Trading..
Tree_Man
Is it illegal to sell/buy Guild Wars accounts over the game?I always see people buying accounts for crazy prices and I have a spare account that I never use a friend gave me, so I was wondering if it was or not.
Thanks In Advice,
Tommy.

Yes, its against the EULA. People advertising to buy are 99% certain to be scammers who once they have the account information, you wont see again or see the gold they offer.
Simple point.. if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Besides that it is strictly against the EULA and just asking to get banned, it would be totally foolhardy to even try.
If you are selling an account, nobody will give you money before they have gotten a working e-mail/password combination (since nothing prevents people from giving false information), and once they have gotten your account they don't have to pay for it. So, you got scammed.
If you are buying an account, you don't know what has been done with it before (there may be a forthcoming permaban already). Also see the point above. If the seller demands payment first and you comply, you got scammed. Or if you actually somehow manage to complete the transaction, the seller may drop a support ticket claiming that his account was hacked, and produce genuine documents to prove that the account is his. Guess what, you got scammed again.
Never, ever, interact with account traders. There's nothing but trouble in order.

Wth the amount this and some other questions come up I think there should be another sticky.
Shifty people in an illegal act that you shouldn't be doing any ways is what you're going by on whether to buy a whole new game or not? Mkay.

Don't do it. A-net could ban you and you are probably being scammed.

Though you get MUCH more satisfaction when you report them through the support page and get an email that says "We have verified a violation and have banned the account".

Report it as spam, that'll make them look at what was said and hopefully a permaban will follow. It's interesting to note that some of the accounts they're using to try to buy other accounts were probably scammed off someone else and stripped of everything. Also don't go for the crap where they try to trade other game stuff for gw stuff, mostly runescape but I've also seen everquest, lin2, and others.
