Understanding trading larg gold amounts
Thizzle
I just got done reading a thread and people have said they've made large gold transfers then never got banned, but there has also been the exact opposite where they made a large ban and got a citation for it. The thing is 1 account mark is nothing, but that's still an account mark. Can you get in trouble for trading gold between your own accounts or is it only between a suspicious gold seller?
nidy
I'm pretty sure you can trade gold all you want between your accounts, just don't buy it with real world money from others.
Miska Bow
Play it safe and always put a stack of crap in exchange.
Just my humble opinion.

Take screen shots of all the transactions too if you feel like it, so if you do get suspended you can show that you only traded between accounts you own. Just an idea.

Evil_Necro
really the best thing is just trade random crap when you trade, and screenshot.
if I want to be really really safe, I wouldnt do it more than 2 times under a week.
my 2c..

I'll just quote myself from that other thread:
Hope it helps.

Stay away from Temple of Balthazar. 2- If the trade exceeds 100k, have the other person trade something back. Useless gold items or whatever. You can always just give those items back later. 3- If you still feel unsafe, just make a party with the other person, and type in the team-chat what you're trading and why. Then make a screenshot of the trade with the chat visible. You can always send that in if you do get banned and explain the situation with hard proof. |

If you are trading large amounts of cash make sure you screen it.

I've traded over a million gold in between my two accounts but on the registration they both have my name and address letter for letter.

BTW, should this be merged with the other thread? Same basic idea.

Not sure that we have all the facts to really come to a good conclusion here. I'm sure A-net looks at many factors before deciding to ban an account. We also rarely hear the full story from folks here that have been banned.
I know that some people are banned unfairly and usually in those cases the ban is overturned on appeal. It could have been an overzealous employee that's heavy with the banstick or a lazy employee that skipped a few items on his checklist before banning. Some factors to consider:
- How often is this account involved in a 1-sided trade?
- Are both trade partners in the same guild?
- Pull chat logs during the trade. Are there any clues there?
- Has either trade partner been under suspension for gold buying/selling before?
- Are both trade partners coming from the same ip.address?
Consider this scenario - A guildie creates a new Ritualist. He's never played a Rit before and wants to learn the class. You have a nice gold Rit Staff. Semi-Expensive but you haven't been able to sell it and you have no use for it. This guildie has given you stuff in the past so you give him the staff and some materials that he'll need to craft some nice rit armor. The next day you're temp-banned. Huh???? No way!!!! Not Fair!!! I just gave my friend some stuff!! Well what you didn't know was that your guildie buys small amounts of gold about once a month from gold sellers. He just bought 200k about 15 minutes before you gave him the staff. To Anet it appears that your account is involved with the gold selling.
The bottom line is that we really don't know what factors A-net looks at before banning and we'll never know.

I've done large 100k trades between two of my own accounts, i've given away 100k amounts to friends also, and i've been lucky enough not to get a ban. Haven't done that in a while, and i didn't put anything in return to the trades either. I guess it's just luck, but if i would have gotten shit from ANet about it, their support would have gotten my half of hell for sure.

Well i have recently received a ban for this and all i did was trade a friend 100k and he traded it right back. No money gained or lost on either side. The two key factors i think are: 1) The trade was in GToB 2) His Account was new.
Now i have sent an appeal to support with no response yet 24 hours later. I think the worth part is my friends account was Perma Banned. All this for two trades of 100k in each direction. I think who ever handed out this ban was stoned or somthing, since neither account gained or lost any money, i don't know how this could have been construed as buying gold.
Some of the factors that should have been looked at by anet. My friends new account was coming from the same ip address as 5 other accounts that have existed for years. I've heard that appeals take 4-5 hours but still nothing yet.. /sigh

Trade something seemingly valuable alongside.
Throw a junk gold 15% hexed fellblade for the 100k, do it in your guild hall, and if you're banned, I'd be very surprised.

Probably not correct, but just a thought/possibility.

Trial accounts can't trade or drop stuff.
Maria The Princess
when i was playing on 2 accounts, sometimes i had to transfer amounts like 100k from one to another, i was getting a friend of mine to log in onmy other account and trade 100k for items that i needed to swap places anyways.
never had a problem... now this account is only a mule so i only trade items with it...

Actually you can just google "guild wars cd key" and get some lol.

Never trust those keygens. One of my buddies tried to use one and I spent 8 hours trying to get the viruses out.

Never try anything like it. Thats the safest.

Never had a problem myself and Im always moving stuff between my accounts, including gold in the past when I was putting together deals for high end pets. Maybe I've just been lucky...*crosses fingers*
