I've had GW since the betas, and I own the collector's edition of the original game, but I just bought Factions Platinum to get the bonus missions, weapons, and Factions. I have started an assassin and am having as much fun with him as I did with my old warrior prior to the insane damage nerfs after the game was released. I hit lv13 in about three hours of playing and have only died when the healer henchman screwed up and decided it was smarter to use her staff to attack instead of healing me, which seemed to happen a dozen or so times at this point, indicating some serious AI bug, but that's another story.
My problem is locating a real assassin build that isn't Nightfall or EoTN dependent! There are only five Factions-only builds on PvXWiki for the assassin, and none are general farming or PvE playing. Heck, none are PvP either, but I am not worried about that yet. I had to choose a second profession to get out of the starting area, so I chose a ranger for now simply because I wanted to tame a tiger, and it does decent damage on the side. Still, I have since thought about it and wondered about a mesmer as secondary due to the massive shutdowns they offer with skills that hrut enemies if they cast or attack. Combine that with the high damage of an assassin and it would seem very effective.
So, where can I find good clean builds for Factions? I will be beating Factions prior to buying NF, and beating NF prior to buying EoTN, so I don't need builds relying on skills from those chapters. I'm looking for both PvE and farming builds right now so I can make enough money to get my end-game armor and fight my way through the story as well.

[leaping mantis sting] [wild strike] [critical strike] [moebius strike] [death blossom] [flurry] [critical defenses] optional
would suggest getting nf if possible

I don't want NF. If one can discover an awesome build with what came with the game, then it makes optional stuff from another game or mod an over-powering addition that really makes a good build. I personally loved using my prophecies guys to whip on all kinds of these hybrid builds back before I got Factions, my only real problem being assassins due to shadow-step and that awesome spike of death they offer. Now I can combine my builds with more powerful skills and be fairly unstoppable, and that is how I wish to learn my assassin.
I do thank you for the post though, and will try those out as soon as I can grab that elite. I hear a lot about MS and one of two others whose names elude me at the moment. Apparently they can be spammed for AoE damage, which I may check into later.

Fixed.
Not having NF means you have to find an alternative for [critical agility], and [flurry] is commonly accepted as second-best for PvE.
Apart from this, it doesn't get much better for a PvE Sin. The build rawks, and you will have success.
BTW
read the guide

I read through parts of it, but like most guides it didn't seem to interest me. I used to be big on guides and doing things the way everybody else does, but then I discovered that I can generally do much better on my own. On top of that, you're talking to a beta player and somebody who has played GW since then. However, I do like to see how others do things and try to improve on that as a starting point. With 99% of the assassin builds requiring NF or EoTN, I was kind of stranded.
I have figured out a decent build for the time being and only added DB to the skills upon recommendation in this thread. I open by using critical eye, followed by golden lotus strike (back to full energy), fox fangs or whatever the second attack is, and finally death blossom. I also carry two extras, and two pet skills. Works fairly well and I plan on moving mroe in the direction of what you're showing me as time progresses.

Hey Baratus,
I got this from the pvxwiki site. If you scroll down they list builds by campaign.

Hope this helps. When you discover your favorite flavor for your sin please share.

Yeah I saw that on PvX. That's why I said in my original post that they only have five builds (maybe it was six?) for Factions only. I will post the build I find to work best for me once I hit 20 and get the end-game armor and have enough elites to find a good combo.
