Anet inherently discriminate against PvE mesmers?

Seems as if you haven't bothered to read the first page of the thread. After someone indicated that there were optional quests which norgu was mandatory for, I responded by saying that I meant norgu is never mandatory in the sense that in order to beat the game, you need to use a mesmer. That's the point I was trying to make from the beginning in my OP. Now I could have edited my OP to try and save face, but it doesn't really make sense when the unedited version is quoted below, I think it just leads to some confusion in discussion.

The same applies for eotn. Gwen is not mandatory for the missing vanguard, I've beaten that several times over without using Gwen most of the time. Maybe you should go back and play that quest before saying I haven't played the game.

Just because you cannot think of any decent inspiration builds does not mean other people can't. Some of us would like the option. Not to mention there are more than 8 skills each for domination and illusion, sometimes a third mesmer can be using skills not used by the first two .

Many of you seem to assume I'm attacking anet by bringing up these points. I was simply pointing out two things I noticed about mesmer heroes. I'm not accusing anet of anything, I just figured it was interesting that mesmers were excluded in these 2 situations when every other core class was not.

Buffing and nerfing skills won't sort Mesmers out. Not giving the enemies in PvE absurd stats would. 'Sins, however are really fine in PvE.

Discrimination?

MESMER AFFIRMATIVE ACTION:

If you don't have a mesmer in your party, you're not allowed into any missions. That should solve the imbalance.

Just run any 3 heroes make them */Mesmer then only give them mesmer skills that will learn em.

Ok you dont get the prime attribute but hey nothing is perfect.

Or use 2 hero mesmers and any one other

I think we can all blame dunhan, back in the old days, for all this. He uses imagined burden on the first mob you call, spammed distortion incessantly, and didn't have a single interrupt.

Lol, i didn't say that PUG's were more intelligent. I simply said that AI wasn't intelligent. That doesn't mean that the majority of people can play a mesmer better, it just means that I don't think AI is effective at playing mesmers either.

Would you like to bring your 'decent' builds before experienced players for inspection? There are reasons besides 'uncreativity' that certain builds aren't played.

For example:
a) they're bad. Something else does it way better.
b) they're bad. They have no real effect on the monsters because they all have 200+ energy with 4-10+ pips of e-regen.
c) they're bad. Ether Lord is not a good skill ok?
d) they're bad. You're not adding much to the party.
e) they're bad. No you do not need to keep your energy bar maxed out at all times if you aren't doing anything.
f) they're bad. Keystone signet sucks too okay.
g) they're bad. Putting 8 mantras on your bar to be uber vs all elements does not "pwn face".

I could honestly keep going to z, but I think you get the point. There is very little Inspiration can do that is actually effective vs 99% of the monsters in the game. Note by effective, I mean good. And no, 8 interrupts isn't good either.

There's probably a reason these builds aren't in the build forum...and it isn't because they are uncreative ~_~ People stumble upon builds that ARE put into the build forums by being creative, most builds are found in this way (The Dark Aura exploit after all that time? The new one with BLINDING POWDER? IWAY? etc.) and then spread because they are genuinely good. After all this time, it is pretty likely if a good PvE Inspiration mesmer that you use isn't in the build forums, it is probably bad for one reason or another!

Unfortunately in 99% of PvE it's just better and easier to straight out kill stuff than fart around degening, e-draining or interrupting and for the rare cases an interrupt is required any class can usually do it just as well as a mesmer.

As such forcing a player to take a mesmer for certain missions doesn't really make the class any better in this regard hence I wouldn't imagine it would have any effect what-so-ever on their popularity in PvE.

Don't forget that mesmers have less elites than the other core professions. Maybe ANet decided you don't need so many heroes because you don't have as many skills.

They got removed from Beta to Release. And it wasn't just elites either.
