No more QQing: PvE+PvP Events on Weekends
Snow Bunny
I looked, didn't find, please redirect if I'm in error.
Every weekend event that ANet puts on, there's some sort of QQing.
If it's EotN Reputation weekend, people will say "screw that, I'm going to do XYZ"
If it's GvG Champ Title weekend, people will say "PvPers always getting favored by ANet!!!!"
Glaring solution: 2 Event Weekends.
It shouldn't be that hard; I'm no computer programmer but it can't be much more work than changing every 1 in some code to a 2.
So, for next week for instance, we'd have Double Lockpick drops w/ increased Lucky/Unlucky and Double Fame weekend. You slake the thirst of both camps.

The PvX will say: I can't be in both places at the same time, you force us to choose!

Unfortunately, if you look back over the history of a great majority of threads in this forum, there is always a QQ over something. Quite a few people will whine about anything and everything, they will make up things to whine about, and when they run out of things, they will whine about not having anything to whine about.
Hodgie
Mithran said it. Even though i do like the idea, some really annoying gw players (i.e.90% of them) will start QQ'ing that they are being forced to chose.
Divine Slaya
There will always be people complaining. It's impossible to please the entire GW community. It is mainly the PvErs that bitch and moan about the weekend events.
Johny bravo
Its funny.
It used to be these events were special events held on random weekend in between major events. Then they turned into every weekend events. This lead to multiple QQing threads like this
ANET has run out of ideas for weekend events
ANET need to do this event again
ANET needs to stop doing these events they are ruinning the economy
ANET favors PVP with these events
ANET favors PVE with these events
ANET stop doing PVP event sI am tired of all the noob in HA
ANET stop doing X PVE event I had to grind that title so should they
Now
ANET needs to do PVP and PVE events every weekend.
I would laught if ANET just stopped their weekend event so people could appreciate what they bring to the game.

I think the weekend events are just fine.
If it's something I won't participate in, I don't.

1. Not enough weekend events to do 2 at a time.
2. People will QQ regardless when they have to choose.
3. People will complain about excessive lag due to these events.
4. There will be a double rep+RA weekend and PvPers will still complain.
5. There will be a double lux/kurz+AB weekend and PvErs will still complain.
Not saying it's a bad idea, but people will find a way to QQ about it

I understand the argument that people don't want to do 2 things at the same time, I suppose I simply meant this as a means to satisfy both camps.
I mean, this (Wintersday in July) weekend is a bit unique in that it is universally appealing, but I'm simply advocating this as something that from a technological standpoint, as well as a human resources standpoint, is really easy to do.
I suppose you're all right though.

This would be a bad change for a bunch of reasons:
*There are players who actually enjoy both. Like I do. I find the majority of events useful for me in a way. I wouldn't want to miss one just because of another one running at the same time.
*The point of some of PvP events is getting more people into PvP, even casuals. While the effect is not as big as it could be, it undeniably exists. Having a PvE event running at the same time would greatly reduce this effect.
*While in PvE there are some more possibilities, having a PvP weekend every weekend would probably mean stuff like Double Fame or Double Champions would appear twice as often. That would greatly affect the meaning of those titles.
IMHO It's fine as it is now.
Just keep the number of PvE and PvP events balanced and never run more than 2 PvE OR PvP events in a row.

So so so so so so true its annoying.

/signed if the majority of players in GW want it to be easier to get their titles
... (aside from the fact that maxed titles give us more favor, which, gasp, means people will bitch about meaningless ecto prices)
/notsigned if it's just to pacify QQ'ers trolling forums. These people aren't even the majority of the players in GW.
aNet just can't win

Anet chooses these in advanced based on a bunch of various factors. They probably couldn't (nor be willing) to do 2 at a time, for these factors.

I remember back when there wern't always weekend events.
people didn't QQ then, you all should be happy.

People are morons and will QQ no matter what happens.
No reason for a.net to fold to the pressure of whiners.

This weekend, we are opening a fabulous weekend where for two days, you will be allowed to play Guild Wars!
You have no reason to complain unless, somewhere inside you, you don't like the game.

Great idea in theory and it would work if events weren't directly linked to title grind.
Unfortunately they are and you can't be at two title grinds at the same time.
Rather than appreciate options most would actually focus on the fact they are missing out on attaining titles.
Cue QQ.

Would be nice, but it doesn't matter to me really. If it's something I don't care about doing, I don't do it. Good point on it helping speed up the title process for some. For that reason, maybe they would never make it more than one event at a weekend then. Who knows...

It is impossible to reduce the amount of people whining about guild wars. Without recourse to some sort of cull.

Weekend events generally speaking mean a large number of players are going to spend that weekend grinding for something.
I agree though, the community will QQ regardless.

I enter both weekends. Choosing is bad, it's wrong, making people choose in MMORPG it's a sin. That's Why I play Guild Wars, were I can re-do my character anytime, instead of stupid games like Ragaron Online, where re-making characters takes ages.
Choices were the source of the problem with Matrix 6.0.
You want to kill all the people connected to Matrix?
Let them live. Choices are bad.

I'd prefer sticking to the current ~35 PvE events per year, ~12 PvP events, ~5 Festivals. PvE events help with grinding out stuff, PvP events try to encourage the PvE elitists to try PvP, but it usually ends up with every halfway decent player avoiding RA during double Glad and avoiding any chance of PuGing during double fame. Festivals, yeah, I deal with the lag, because I know people are enjoying them even if I don't really care.
90% of Team Quitter plays AoC now anyway and are completely blind to how buggy it is. The other 10% don't really care because they know the game is dead and not that much fun as it once was.
