So I am getting guild wars tomorrow and I want to know what would be a good char for me to start out with.

I definitely want a character that does damage because I'm not a fan of sitting back to heal.

I just don't want to go through the game and then realize that I can't complete it because I mad tons of bad choices. o_o

So, what do you recommend for a character with no items on another account and etc

there are no real bad choices, because you can change your secondary and your attribute points easily.

so anything is fine!

I think if you wanna start off easy with nothing too complicated, go with warrior. All you gotta do is attack. Then once you get a good feel for the game, experiment with all the other characters and see how you like them. Thats what i did.

I think you're either a Warrior or an Ele - just depends on whether or not you like casters or melee more.

I have factions.

I prefer melee, but is that viable later in the game if I am new?

Ah, OK, you have access to Assassin and Rit then! I personally prefer Assassins over Warriors ('sins have +4 energy recharge versus Warriors' +2), since Critical Strike is a very flexible primary attribute to have - if you tire of daggerstabbing stuff, you can always do stuff like go /R and critical barrager. The downside, of course, is that you're a somewhat squishier melee, with 70 max armor as opposed to 80.

That, and if you don't have anyone to play with, 'sins are very common, and a PUG is likely to be full up of 'sins in early Factions areas (I'm not sure about the rest), so you may not have anyone to group with. Tell you what though - if you need a bit of help just add my monk (her name's under my username), and if I'm free I'll help you out. Just tell me you're karantum from gwguru first! (:

If your new to the game Warrior is the best choice. Its easy to learn how to play in PvE and generally is a good choice for your first time through the game. I would try that first if you like it finish the game then decide if you want to try something new or keep going on your warrior. If you don't like it in the beginning you can always change.

also you might want to create a few characters in the beginning to get a feel for how each works and which suits your playstyle best.

I know that for warrior you are supposed to stick to one weapon type for the strongest type but what about the assassin?

If I do make a new assassin/ritualist what moves will be strong? What should I focus on in the beginning since i have nothing

and later when i get closer to being stronger

Ritualists are shortened to Rt, while Rangers are shortened to R. Sorry for not making myself clearer earlier.

As for ideas on builds, etc, why don't you go and look at the Campfire forums for each class? There's a sticky there that gives you a basic guide on how to play assassins/warriors/rangers/etc. After a while, once you get comfortable enough with your class, you'll also probably be better able to figure out a build for yourself.

Yes and as said a few times war is a good way to start and it keeps its usefulness cause its 1 of the better damage dealers in the game. I got off my ass and started doing all the Hard Mode missions/bonuses on my war "just to say i did it on my war, im not a real title hunter and i dont care for them if i wanted a grind id play WoW" and Ive been using a earth shaker build "a skill that KDs any thing adjacent to target" and im able to pump them out really fast and i almost feel that i dont need monks "monk = healer" at times cause every thing is on their ass. Theres also a build for sword called "god mode" it gives your party 100 armor and can be really useful at times and for a starter like you, you may want look in to it, theres a lot about it in the warrior forums.

I looked at all the warriors and most of the builds up have moves from games other than factions

Any one in particular that you can direct me to?

Factions-only, these seem to be the best I can come up with:
[build prof=W name="Axe" Axe=12+1+1 Tac=10+1 Str=8+1][Dismember][Executioner's Strike][Triple Chop][Cyclone Axe][No Skill]["Watch Yourself!"][Tiger Stance][Resurrection Signet][/build]
[build prof=W/N name="Sword" Swo=12+1+1 Tac=10+1 Str=8+1][Sever][Gash][Quivering Blade][Plague Touch][No Skill]["Watch Yourself!"][Tiger Stance][Resurrection Signet][/build]
[build prof=W name="Hammer" Ham=12+1+1 Tac=10+1 Str=8+1][Earth Shaker][Crushing Blow][Mighty Blow][Yeti Smash][No Skill]["Watch Yourself!"][Tiger Stance][Resurrection Signet][/build]

Fill in the optional with whatever you want, for example ["For Great Justice!"]. You could probably run /R as well for [Bestial Fury], but it screws over "WY!". Also, quivering blade could be replaced with [Dragon Slash] etc.

Anyone else have any ideas?

anything other than a mesmer has at least a few options to make a useful character out of.

Alright!

So I've decided that I definitely want to make an axe warrior build!

I'll probably be following the build similar to the one Ichigo posted but if anyone else has any ideas for a good axe warrior, post it up!

Edit: OH and would it be best to stick to strictly warrior or group it was another class.

most builds I see are pure warrior.

Yes cause warrior does not have that much energy management its not that good of a idea to use a lot of non work skills or skills that need a lot of energy "five is gud tho" also the war skills own so theres no reason for other profs, just go all hammer wars an own pve XD
