Few questions about GW on Ubuntu Linux

Hi all.

Got a couple of questions:
1~ Is it possible to run Textmod on Ubuntu?
2~ How can I get hold of & install drivers for an 8800GTS Video card.

I know NOTHING about Linux at all.
I just swapped over in a rage at Microsoft.
Now I don't wanna go back.

I have Guild Wars currently running on Wine, and I get poo frame rates compared to what I used too.
Also, is it at all possible to install Direct X 9.*Something*, because it says i'm running on DX8 at the minute.

Sure, why not?
Open a Terminal and type 'sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-new'. Done.
If you don't want to use the console, you can just activate the Restriced Driver if you click System -> Administration -> Restriced Drivers.

Well run winecfg and look if Wine emulates WinXP. Also, for better performance check out the official How-To: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...rsion&iId=9194

However - whatever you do, GW *will* run slower than on a native Windows-OS. I would suggest you make a small partition with Windows and install GW there. Linux sucks at gaming. That said, you can be lucky you don't even have an ATI-card.

I have the drivers sorted now.

Well, I tried TexMod, I have it d'loaded & installed with a Cartography aid.

I've set it up fine, I know as i've used it before many times.
When I click to run , nothing happens.
Could this be to do with being in Direct X 8?
