Would you like an event schedule for each month?

I've copied this from the Game & Dev Tracker forum as I thought it was worthy of a poll here.

This has been discussed around the office. Some of us think it'll be a good idea because it would give you all more notice to plan your weekends. How much would you all like to see a full month in advance? Do you like to be surprised or do you want a schedule?
Thoughts?

I approve! This would actually be very useful, they could include start and end times as well (speaking of which, have the Wintersday items started dropping yet?). Though they'll probably screw it up somehow

Although I have selected 'Yes' because I think Anet have horrible CR and should increase communication, I also think this would be helpful. That way I can see which events I won't have to log in for.

yes, just so there can be one huge QQ thread discussing the schedule of all weekends and not one thread each weekend!

well, it's not really a useful thing, nobody will ever plan their life after GW weekends..no huge point but i guess it won't hurt just so Anet thinks they're doing something for GW1!!

Couldn't they have just gotten their programmers to implement a sign in poll when you login to find this stuff out years ago when they were sippin their lattes? Guess the aroma caused them to overlook such things.

It kills the surprise to know things about a month ahead of time. A week's notice on the next weekend event would be good enough.

Yes, of course. People make a lot of things in weekends, with an schedule, people can plan when they will go out an when they will bend their own schedules to dedicate some time for GW.

'Spoiler prevention is irrelevant and quite dumb'. We all knew that he was dead at the beginning of the movie!

Yes, yes, yes, and more yes.

If people want to be surprised, they can just not look at the thing I guess? I would assume they wouldn't post it in-game, so?

yes it would be nice to know what stuff is coming up---that way we can decide if we want to spend time playing or doing stuff in the real world.
And then people would stop posting threads about 'what is next weekend gonna be?' or 'when are they gonna tell us about next weekend?'
would certainly help more than hurt!

Yes, I like the events that the game has and id love to see more. Unfortunately, People take advantage of these events in order to make money, which I think isn't right. So having one every month would be a wreck.

i cant see why not it would help everyone i think this way people could hold contest and such on weekends where they get extra rewards for gvg. it would also be helpfull as to when to play what parts of the game like if i was going to start another survivor. or i wanted to get my monumental armor i could plan when i should grind to get it.

Yes, I think having advance notice of the next four weekend events would be most excellent!

(I would say that posting it monthly, however, would fail, though. You'd still have no notice of the first events of the next month until the new schedule was posted. That could be just a few days away in some cases...)

If nothing else, it would minimize the "let down" that some people have now, when we find out the event details for the upcoming weekend event.

Does anyone else see the irony in the emotional reactions from people about this game? They like Guild Wars so much that when it doesn't live up to their expectations, they get pissed... How utterly ironical!!

On topic:
I couldn't care less.
I almost never do the weekends - and the only one I do care about - the AFK-weekend - is pretty much on the same schedule every year.

Doesn't matter for me.

On the plus side I may make plans accordingly, but on the flipside I can see complaint threads popping up months in advance of events.

What surprise are you talking about? Other then this weekend, all the weekends are always the same. It's not like someone's going to say OMG, TRIPLE GREEN DROP THE 3RD WEEK OF AUGUST? WAY TO RUIN IT FOR ME ANET!!!! I mean really, there is absolutely no surprise to the weekend events, and you need to get out more if you get disappointed for knowing a repeated weekend event a month ahead of time. Saying there's a special weekend (like this one) and not telling until a few days before the event, I can understand. But weekends like double fame, double SS/LB points, I see no reason not to.

Anyways, I voted don't mind. I could care less if they did this or not.

Absolutely no reason not to do this. They definitely need a calendar. Most of the 'surprises' are just useless weekends that most players hate anyhow. That is to say they are negative surprises. Better not to be negatively surprised by them when the text for them comes up in-game a day or two before the weekend; and instead just see them on the calendar way ahead of time. The calendar would actually minimize the amount of hate for useless weekends since they wouldn't be 'sprung' on the players at the last minute when they were expecting something good might be coming up only to have their hopes dashed.

It would be nice to get a little more notice ahead of time for some events. We have a few guildies that dont play too much, but they like coming back for certain weekends. More than a couple days notice would be great for letting them know which weekends they might want to come back for.

I voted for somethings but I only say that because if they want to pull a suprise weekend out that would be good. But I would like to know which weekends are coming up and when since most of them are repeat.
