Option to remove "in-fights" music
Duncan Idaho
This is something I've been thinking about for quite a long time now : I like alot the soundtrack from Jeremy Soule, and I always play with the game music on in PvE. But there is something I really find annoying...
Wandering through the Mirror of Lyss with the ambient Vabbian music, my path suddenly crosses a patrolling group of plants and the rumbling sounds of battle overwhelms the peaceful sounds of the desert. Awww no ... another in-fight music ...
Well I guess those who took the time to read me have understood what I mean. I wish there was an option that would prevent those "in-fights" music, would it be in GW:EN or in NF.

You could just buy the soundtrack and listen to that.

I agree Duncan, some of the "Fight" music can be annoying, especially the EotN ones.
theonetheonlybruce
um turn it down
Konig Des Todes
As I always have iTunes playing in the background, I never notice a difference between music in and out of fights. All I know is that the sounds of the fighting (grunts, clashing of blades, etc) can get annoying, which is why I play music in the background. If that is your problem, the music and the sound effects can have different volumes via options (F11).

Turn it off.
Listen to some good Drum and Bass, Tool, or Norma Jean.
Problem solved.

There's always the option of turning sounds and/or music off and buying the soundtrack, as was mentioned. But since I always have the sound off anyway it doesn't bother me.

Or, they could add what he is asking for, and he can just play the game no worries or extra hassle.

Did anyone read what he wrote?
Seriously, how would this negatively impact those of you against it?
I don't have the sound on ever and just listen to my own music in the background, but that doesn't mean I am against features that help other people and don't affect me whatsoever.

The answer is really apparent as I agree with the OP yet solved my issue and he/she could easily do the same.Sure it's not in-game implemented but this change will NEVER happen so let's be realistic and try to help the player out.
Make your own music...turn off the in-game, turn up the FX and play what ever background music you want.
Simple really.

Anduin... I highly suggest clicking the edit button and merging your posts, not post 4 at once.
And anyways, the reason why people are against it is because of two things:
1) It doesn't bother them either way, so they just don't care
2) People would rather see more important things in GW then a music issue.
I do like the in game music, but I prefer listening to things like Beethoven instead of the same thing over and over... and over.

An option to disable battle music would be trivial to Anet to implement, so I don't see why not. I prefer the exploration music and would probably play with battle music disabled in NF and EotN if I could.

Just buy the soundtrack if you want to listen to it all the time. If you don't have $15 or whatever it costs, I hate to encourage it, but use P2P filesharing, it's probably on there.

They actually ADDED this feature because it was something that so many peope wanted. It helps to create a more immersive environment.

Sorry you missed it.

I though you can switch just the battle sound off under Option - Sound??

Battle FX...not battle music.
Dark Paladin X
i was thinking of having in-fight music in Prophecies and Factions as well.
At first, I was like, wait, WTF is in-fight music in GW. Then I realize I have my music setting to off.

I totally brung this topic up before.
I still think it's a worthy suggestion and should be seen to.
As for Adruin or whatever... Good work on the multiple posts.
And as for Firefly...ry... Just no.

It wouldn't be so annoying if the battles weren't frequent nor short. As it is, it just chops up some very atmospheric and immersive tunes and replaces it with short battle tracks.
I mean don't get me wrong, it's awesome that ANet added a feature like this. But choice in the issue would be much healthier.

Turning off the in-game music and playing music the OP would enjoy hence solving the OP's issue of it ruining and interrupting his experience until it's addressed in-game?
Oh...kk.
We all agree it would be a great option, it's not there, it can be resolved.
gg.

An option to just play whatever songs we want on some kind of track list would be great.
That, or I can just rip the music off the interwebs.

Oh noes.. I am playing final fantasy 5 and entered a random battle. The awesome overworld music is gone
Oh well, too bad, so sad. This is an rpg. Just disable music and play when you want on an mp3 player.

[email protected]'s music taste.
This suggestion has been brought up dozens of times over at that other shitty fansite and it always gets locked down because the mods there get giant boners for the battle music (and also quashing any suggestions that turn at all popular). It should've been implemented when we got visual scaling toggles for distant clickables.
I remember when I saw the DvD for Nightfall and they were talking about how cool it was to be running through wherever and then you get in a fight and you hear these rolling battle drums and I thought "that's freaking rad" but then when I actually experienced it, it was lame. I couldn't hear the AWARD-WINNING soundtrack at all, and tell me, what's the point to that?
Give us a toggle for the Battle Music. Some like it, some don't, so a toggle makes EVERYONE happy.

But yes, I agree a toggle would be a compromise but I highly doubt whether it's on the high priority list, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement. The soundtrack is available, so I really don't see why you can't just play the soundtrack and turn off music if it bothers you all that much. It's easier for you to compromise than it is for Anet, who have to spend time, and money on changing a system that really, not many people actually have a problem with.

if: near hostile creatures
then: play shitty drums
else: don't
You could program a small toggle in the F11 menu to just bypass this little snippet of code.
