What happens around 7am-8am on the internet?

This happens everyday, I don't want to ask, but its getting on my nerve and I want to know what is causing this, and if theres anyway of preventing it?

Usually starting 3am-4am (guru's time) cannot load Guild Wars Guru, usually the page will load within 5 seconds, however during that suspicious time frame, the browser will be on a perpetual loading of Guild Wars Guru's front page, if i am playing Guild Wars, I'll have terrible terrible lag. like 5k-10k of ping sometime more.

Does anyone know why? For instant yesterday starting around 3am (guru's time) I cannot even get on Guild Wars Guru, at first I thought, never mind, since I am not a paying member, a little lag is normal, but it happens everyday. Yesterday was the worse, I ended up going to bed early because I can't even load the game, I click on my Ranger, eagerly wanting to throw some snowball at some players, but did not happen.

so the question is, is there a central thing that all internet connects to that happens to be doing some daily maintainance around that time frame??

There is central thing in internet, but your internet provider could do some maintentenance which would affect you as he is your only link to net. However, it is very rare that that stuff needs doing, it in span of once-a-year-or-never.

Check for malware on your PC, spam zombies usually send email only during certain times (they get new set of spam to send).

afaik I've always assumed that at 6 AM (i'm central) guru is doing maintenance.

I live on the east coast I have never actually looked at the time but there is times when I get on Guru and after browsing thru 5-6 forums, buy and sell forums and other junk I get a sudden halt and guru goes no where so ill switch back to guild wars come back later and either the page will be loaded or connection timed out. computer if clean, virus scan runs every day and i periodically run Spybot S&D.

my theory is depending on what time you are talking bout its more than likely the peak period for guru and the servers can get bogged down with alot of pointless threads taht get started not to mention some threads that serve no purpose but are dated back 2-3 years. IMO i think that guru needs to do a major spring clean up get rid of all the junk and see how that helps.

It's the forum back-ups running. They happen daily. I apologize but there's really nothing we can do about it. We have tried doing it early morning when it's an off peak time for both US and Euro but we are bound to affect some.

Inde, Thank You for the feedback, i just want to confirm its you guys doing maintainance and not some one stealing my bandwidth or some other creepy stuffs happening.

my isp does its routine maintenance at that time as well...thing is its the time I am ON the internet.....guess you cant please all of the people all of the time.
