Does rank mean anything to you?

People can bullshit all they want about weapon swapping, positioning, interrupt timing etc etc.
Whether they actually practise what they say is a different matter.
And at the end of the day, rank is a measure of how much you played, and the more you play, the more practice you are likely to have had at the aforementioned.

Rank at least means you'll have skills unlocked, and if I have a slot with a specific skillbar (ie: a real build), then I don't want any 'I don't have that skill) nonsense wasting my time.
That's just on top of having experience on the maps and objectives.
This thread is kind of old but I don't really care since it's still valid.

Being ranked just means you have that level of experience in the area. Does not mean you have more "skillz" than the others, because you can still iway/sway/heroway and get the rank you want. When I am looking for a group I don't really care about what rank people have, although I do prefer a group that knows what they are doing which is what rank shows me.

Pretty sure I've posted in here, but I don't care to look.
Rank = experience.
Rank was never really = skill, except in the Aus/Korean timezones. If you ever played then, you'd understand why I say this.

Rank =/= skill, but it means at least EXPERIENCE, knowing each map, and thats really important in HA. You can be skilled, but if you dont know the maps, you'll probably fail for the first few times. Thats why rank discrimination exist.

Doesnt mean anything. Except telling the whole world "I have a flash light show, enjoy"

On a scale of 1 to 10? Rank means 0 to me.

When I stop seeing people above rank 6 run horrible builds, die very quickly and bitch at their team, I'll believe rank has an important role to play.

Rank to me is grind. My only respect goes to those who worked hard for it and honestly and to the ones who don't go: I'M R12 EAT MY PHOENIX YOU NOOB
Mature ranked players have my respect, Jerks will never have it.

Every title in the game has negative value to me. Titles contributed to the destruction of the game.

Does rank mean anything to me? Yes. It means that I'll never be interested in the PvP side of the game. Going through a form of screening process for an occupation is one thing. Going through a screening process to play a game leaves me completely disinterested in it. Rank is grind. Grind and titles screw up the game.
II Lucky Charm II
Rank means EVERYTHING to me. Having rank discrimination is a way to distinguish one with experience from one who lacks experience. Of course, there are some exceptions to this discrimination as we all know. These exceptions include high-ranked people who sold their accounts and continue playing on their noob accounts and those who are really good at GvG but just started in HA.
This problem is not new at all, really. It has been going on for almost 3 years now, ever since 1 - 2 months after Guild Wars started. If you have just bought this game, you will have very little chances of achieving successes in any competitive areas (HA or GvG). The game is 3-year old and it's about to die. My only suggestion to the newcomers in competitive play is to practice for PvP in RA or TA (maybe GvG if you have a dedicated guild) and wait for Guild Wars II to come out and try your skills there. Don't form a randomway in HA if you're not a high-ranked player... it is pointless, a waste of time, and you are giving free fame to the opposing team. Unless, you have nothing productive to do... You can ignore my advice and form one. See what will happen...
Anyway... Rank is everything so please stop asking these questions. If you can't find a group with your rank then it's your fault for not joining PvP early enough. We all know that we cannot trust a random person from HA ID 1 (except randomway). I do realize the injustice in rank discrimination toward the newcomers when I started this reply so if you feel that you're having difficulties joining a group in HA, just follow my advices in the second paragraph. It's not very detailed but at least it will give you an idea of where to start.
P.S. To those who grind their way to a certain rank, I want to congratulate those people on wasting their time. For those who say that this game doesn't require skills, you guys are wrong. We all know that you've gotten tired of this game and maybe you're a high-ranked player, please stop saying this or just stop playing the games so the newcomers can have their chances in competitive plays. With experience, people will develop certain skills to avoid the mistakes they made that caused their teams to lose. Therefore, we can say that experience is the same thing as skill and knowledge.
I apologize if my reply offends anyone, but this subject is tough to address!

Rank is far from meaning everything, all it shows is the amount of time spent doing a certain activity in the game, i.e, experience. It has nothing to do with skill or knowledge.
This is clearly more obvious in PvE than PvP (although it includes both), I've seen so many GWAMMs with the IQ of a plant, and no clue on how to actually play the game.

I understand, rank for some veterans and hardcore pvp players means something. Rank for the majority (mostly new and pve players ) however means nothing. And sadly these questions will never stop they just quiet down for awhile then come back up again.

I don't PvP at all, so I have no idea what Rank means what - if someone was to say they were "Rank2" I don't even know if that's high or low - so, no, Rank doesn't mean anything to me.

no, rank means nothing. rank means you have the time to play, and have friends in game with the same mind set. i do not view it as skill.

Rank, the higher the rank = the more times the person will use the word "NOOB!" per hour

The Thing with Fame is, R3 can be gained on double fame weekends, by replaying the first 2-4 maps over and over again with normally some build that rarly gets any where near halls, So R3 is a bit meh imo. Not to crap on anyones achievements ( i'm not even there yet) but i don't see why it should be taken as such a standard.
I'd much rather a team that was somewhat competant, then one that played the first 3 maps with some build of the moment.
That Said I'm in the process of gaining fame(r2), ( I Do try and previous pvp exp. seems to mean nothing in Ha).
<----
I Shall either spend alot of time in Ha pugging or if if i lose my sanity before i get rank 3 I'll proberly be forced to buy it, Worst part is When R3 i'll see the same kind of Crap but with rank 4 and 5s and 6 etc.

Thizzle, yes, you need rank in HA, that's the "reason" of that place: You get ranks and emotes, for enter better teams, for make more ranks/emotes, plus the fun (if you are not interested in rank/emotes at all, the "reason" is gone, so you shouldn't visit HA at all)
It's completely wrong you cannot enter teams without r3, there are a lot of unranked teams, you make your own.
It doesn't matter if you make your rank in balanced teams or "lamer" teams, after all, you will get the same "rewards".

Rank means you have experience in HA, I would rather have a r10 than a r0 in my party.
However, rank doesn't mean they're good.

There always seems to be hundreds of unranked players who complain because all the groups require rank.
Why doesn't one of them just make an unranked group?
They shouldn't have any problem, since we've already heard thousands of times that unranked players have just as much skill as a r9.

rank means absolutely shit to me

no rank don't mean a thing to me I prefer to play and have fun and help guildies out

Jiao's spot on.
If there are so many r0-2's complaining of the inability to get in groups, considering that RANK MEANS NOTHING, why are there not r0 pugs holding halls every night?

Call it 'grind' or whatever else you like, but this 'grind' undoubtedly means experience. That is what rank means, experience. Not necessarily skill.
A r6 person will most likely know what to do in the Antechamber and be familiar with the tactics, whereas an unranked person will probably run around clueless like a headless chicken. wut. |

Because most of the r0 pugs are randomly there to get fame.
Also Idiots are Idiots ,was in an Iway group earlier (unranked..so yeah)
other team balled up into a corner at spawn.... our team in its greatness ran into the corner, balled they used AoE....
another time, they went in and somehow wiped on zenishen...so yeah, Hard to find people that actually want tto do Ha and people who just want some famez...
Rank 5+ is pretty good indicator imo.

There aren't really any 'just as good as a ranked player' players. The few that are actually good without rank have achievements in other PvP areas - and they're not pugging anyways, most of the time. Example: Faithful Sno was below r3 when he started majorly playing HA, but [Eat] had already shown solid GvG results and superb TA results, and as a core monk he was able to get to r9 quickly through contacts of those areas.

Rank is just an indicator of experience, if you are new to the arena, (which low rank means, your new, not bad) then you will be looking to get into new teams, not experienced r9 teams.
But I do have to agree, that rank 3 isnt that much more experienced than a r0, so its pretty ridiculous if they dont take you.
