new repeatable quest: Vanquisher of the Kurzick / Luxon
seut
The idea behind these new quests is to create an alternative way to gain Kurzick / Luxon Faction that's on par with hfff.
quest: Vanquisher of the Kurzick / Luxon
given by: Count zu Heltzer / Elder Rhea
requirement: hard mode for Factions available
objective: vanquish all 7 Kurzick / Luxon areas
reward: adds 200,000points to your Kurzick / Luxon title
the quest is repeatable
@objective:
Kurzick areas to vanquish:
* Arborstone
* Drazach Thicket
* Ferndale
* Melandru's Hope
* Morostav Trail
* Mourning Veil Falls
* The Eternal Grove
Luxon areas to vanquish:
* Archipelagos
* Boreas Seabed
* Maishang Hills
* Mount Qinkai
* Gyala Hatchery
* Rhea's Crater
* Silent Surf
@reward:
* The reward should be on par with hfff. A good hfff runner gains about 40-50k points per hour to his title. Vanquishing the respective areas takes about 5-7hours. If the areas you vanquish are under control of your faction you make about 25k points (50k if donated to alliance).
fast hfff: 50k*5hours -> 250k to title & alliance
fast vanquish: 200k reward + 50k to title, but only 50k to alliance
* the reward should not count as donation to your alliance to prevent donation spikes

I'm gonna whine because I already vanquished Cantha and can't get this for free.
Even if it's on par with HFFF, people will probably rather do it the HFFF way than the Vanquisher way, just because it's easier to setup, easier to do, easier to make up for if you fail, and you can pay other people to do it for you.
I'd support this just because it's an alternative, but it's still a poor one.

Squishy ftw
I would love something like this. It beats HFFFing by miles IMO.

I personally dont HFFF because it is ridiculously boring...I wouldn't mind an alternative.

I'd love this lol.
I love vanquishing, and I love getting my rank up D:.

Won't be easier just to change the bounties so you'll get 5.000 points in Normal Mode and 10.000k in hard mode by clearing an area of 400 monsters with 5 bosses?
Currently you barely get 1000 points in NM that way.
The Factions bounties should change:
- Separate the Kurzick/Luxon Blessing into a title effect (+1..3 Energy regen and +25..50 Health in Kurzick/Luxon areas) and a free Bounty given by Luxon/Kurzick Priests (You'll still have to pay 50g to talk to a Priest of the opposite side, though).
- Make the titles give more points the more monsters are killed instead just having to kill 24 monsters and then 5 bosses. For example:
* 0..25% monsters: Rank 1. 1 points per kill. 50 points per boss killed.
* 26..50% monsters: Rank 2: 2 points per kill. 100 points per boss killed.
* 51..75% monsters: Rank 3: 4 points per kill. 200 points per boss killed.
* 76..100% monsters: Rank 4: 8 points per kill. 400 points per boss killed.
Double in HM.
That would be mostly the same, just you'll have to visit the Luxon Scavenger/Kurzick Bureaucrat between Vanquishes instead of an NPC after all have been made. And has also the advantages of killing the 24+5 boss farming, leaving only the HFFF to deal with; and removing the option of having +6 regen and +50 Health if you talk to both Luxon and Kurzick priests.

/signed for either the OP or for Mithran Arkanere's suggestion. I prefer Mithran's idea because I vanquished all but one area in both the Kurzick and Luxon area (3 more areas total to finish vanquishing Cantha).
If the quest in the OP was a 1 time thing and if you vanquished an area before getting the quest and it would count towards the quest, then /sign for the OP over Mithran Arkanere's suggestion. Maybe add this type of quest to all reputation areas?
Istani for 5k Sunspear points
Kourna for 5k Sunspear
Vabbi for 10k Sunspear & 5k Lightbringer
Desolation for 5k Sunspear and 10k Lightbringer
Realm of Torment for 10k Lightbringer
Far Shiverpeaks for 50k Norn
Tarnished Coast for 50k Asura
Charr Homelands/Ascalon for 50k Vanguard *too few Charr areas*
Northern/Southern Shiverpeaks for 50k Deldrimor *can't vanquish dungeons *
That's going with the OP's suggestion of course. If going with Mithran Arkanere's suggestion, just change the reputation to the appropriate one and remove the "bonuses" from EN reputation farming. (I do dislike the monster bounties of NF, maybe change the areas *not regions* to specifically one title instead of this monster=this title?).

Otherwise amounts of over 10k won't be fun to deal with, since some people could careless about the title track. They'd rather spend it getting jade/amber

@MithranArkanere: Nice ideas, but i'm afraid this would lead to ursan pugs running the most lucrative places like we have in Olafstaed now. Not much fun and similar boring as hfff.
Additionally you would easily hit the 10k faction wall resulting in either leavers in pugs or waste of points, if you stay for a full run. Also i don't think your method would give as much faction as hfff does in the same amount of time.
@Azazel The Assassin: The books in EoTN pretty much function like quests i proposed. Maybe they can add another type of book for vanquishing EoTN and Nightfall.
A while ago i posted an idea to boost the character based reputation titles of secondary characters. Unfortunately that suggestion was washed away from page one after a few hours and wasn't noticed by many .

Personally i would like to see a complete overhaul of the point systems in Factions and Nightfall, but harsh reality is that the resources of the team working exclusively on GW1 are slim. We have one dedicated designer and i don't know, if the promised dedicated programmer has even arrived yet. I fear only simple and easy to implement suggestions have a chance to be done.
Well, they promised "to alter the grind currently associated with many PvE-only skills" in the last developer update. Hopefully we see some results of that soon.

With the %. Basically you'll get the same points killing the same monsters, people could change areas when bored of the other ones without caring much about which area are they in... ah... but probably a minimun in monsters would be needed... for areas with many bosses and not many normal monsters.
Maybe monster level and number of skills could be considered too.
And there are no quests that make appear much more bosses in Factions, just a couple of them that make additional bosses in a couple of areas.

ugh, I finished vanquishing cantha and once I'm done with elona, im NEVER doing any vanquishing again.

Oh, another thing that could be done is adding a repeatable quest in each side that is completed by making each of the other 5 repeatable quests in explorable areas once (much like Sorrow's Furnace quests). Then remove the 300 points from each quests, leaving only exp, gold and 100 faction and then make the new repeatable quests give 2500 points. You'll get 3000 points instead of 2000, but no more HFFF.

Then make that quest give 5500 and the others stay at 400.
You'll get 7500 by doing them all.

Yeah, I usually hate these suggestions but quite frankly the kurz/lux need some love. The titles are fairly high and hard to reach for the average player, and there should be some pve way (aside from kurz hfff) to max these without abing until your skull explodes. This seems fair, although 200k points seems a bit high. Maybe 100k? Anyway, /signed for some variation of this.
