Serpent Axes

Are Serpent Axes a rare skin? I think I remembered them as being so a long time ago, but I'm not sure anymore. And does being Inscriptable make it less rare?

They used to be a rare skin worth 100k +XXXe. Now that they drop more often and there are inscriptable versions the weapon is very cheap now.

So a Gold R12 Serpent Axe I found from the Zaishen Chest isn't really worth taking the time to sell?

Mod it for a caster and try selling it for 20k. Other then that no. I bought a req 9 for 30k about a month ago.

I guess I'll go do that. Lucky me it came with a +5 En and I happen to have a 20% Enchant lying around.

Also, I've been out of the GW scene for quite a bit; how do I know what's a rare skin and what isn't? Is it more of a "view what the market wants" thing and whatnot?

They are all over the sell thread here and Guru Auction for 20k at most. Give or take 5k. Either way, they are more than 5 times cheaper than they were before GWEN. I think the only valuable Axe is probably Pyroclastic Axe (maybe Chaos Axe still, but i was never a fan of those so idc/idk). Not sure on current market price, but I'm fairly certain they are less than 100k. Maybe 75-85k.

I remember making a bunch of money buying and selling one a long time ago. Shame the market dropped on them because they are cool.

The market isn't at all what it once was and all the newer players have no sense of the coolness of the old weapons. I stopped playing for a year and when I got back I made the mistake of selling one of my req 8 15^50 weapons. Don't make the same mistake. Keep the rare ones. You can appreciate them even when others don't. I'm glad I still have my req 8 storm bow and chaos axe, not to mention my HoD sword. Remember when you could craft one in Henge of Denravi? Remember when they nerfed it because it was the only +5 enchant melee weapon in the game and the price skyrocketed to over 300K? That was then.

Find the price lists of items in the Guru forums, to get an idea of the price of things. Some of it is inaccurate and some of it is pretty accurate. Watch what things sell for in Spamaden, I mean Kamaden, which is like LA was like in the old days.

And Eaglecrest Axe.

Oldschool serpent (tyrian), drawvens are still one of the rarest weapons ingame and there is still eaglecrest axes, white reavers etc
