Frustrating Game

First of all ... why are there no game moderators online and no petition system ... ?

Anyway, I reached the burning ascalon two years later story stuff and from there everything went bezerk. I joined some party's, did some stuff and completly lost the story, the when and how and whatever. Aside from manuals and stuff, I WANT MY STORY back. Is there no bloody cohesion for this game? Need I start a new character just to enjoy a game?

Just hold up there. I am sorry that you are having a hard time with the flow of the game and I know that it can turn you off.

there is a quests menu that you can look at. The Primary quests will lead you through the story line. There are 25 main missions that you can do. There are cut scenes that walk you through the story as the game really starts in post searing ascalon which is where your toon is now.

There are NPS's that will give you quests. There are several of them in ascalon and some more outside of ascalon. I am sure that there are several Guru members that will help in game, myself being one of them. A S L A N is my in game name for post searing.

If this does not help, try looking through the recruiting guild members forum here on guru. There are some great guilds out there and people that need those mission that you need to get the Protector of Ascalon title.

So no you do not need to start a new toon.

Hopes this helps

What, Stop flaming the guy. What if he really needs help. You should grow up. Where would you be if someone did not help you. This is NOT good Stewardship! Come on Guys SMARTEN UP!!!

Press "L" - I believe that brings up your quest menu.

Just follow primary quests. The beginning of 'Post' (Post- Searing) can be confusing; but we need more information before we can help you

Thanks Snow Bunny. I do not know the short cuts. I do believe that the game comes with a card of all of the shortcuts. I just dragged and dropped them onto my screen from the start menu

Wiki is your friend.

Both contain storyline trees, as well as walkthrews and maps for all quests, dungeons, and missions.... and pretty much anything else you would need to know gl.

You are probably doing side quests which basically deviates from the main "cooperative" missions.

Please stop with the useless responses. He did not ask for a so called english professor to correct his damn grammar. He did not ask for people to judge what he posted. If you got nothing else to say that relates to the topic, then don't post. period.

I believe that "Defend the Wall" or something like that is a quest you need to get, though there is actaully a little side quest with a diplomat first. You get the quest inside Old Ascalon city. Just look for people with the green arrows above their heads. Take all the quest till you get one that show up in the pirmary quest line. I believe the guy you need to get the quest from is at the top of a set of stairs somewhere.

OP first thing...welcome to guild wars!
2nd thing, sorry there are no GMs online (and the few that are are not there to help you in any way)......

ok, getting to your issues...
the few helpful posts here have said there is an L menu with your quests listed, you NEED to do the primary quests, you CAN do the others (most of which at your point in the story will get you some extra skills and some xp)...for a list of the quests you need to do try this link
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miss...8Prophecies%29

(and you are a prophecies born character)....so the next quest you should be doing in the Krytan ambassador which can be gotten from capt orsic in ascalon city. Since you played thru pre-searing (the nice green area before the 2 year break) you will know about the ! above people's heads indicating a quest person......there are quite a few of them in ascalon when you arrived, you can take all of the quests (you are not required to do them all just the primary ones)....and do them as you like.

I hope this helps, I know playing by yourself at the beginning can be very confusing...you might also want to find a guild ---there are many out there that are will to help you along as well as help you with your gaming issues too.

The story line in post searing is a little different. It is all linked by primary quests and co-ops. In ascalon city there is a large stair area w/ captain tydus on a landing. continue UP the stairs and turn right. Follow the passage to the portal, that will be the great northern wall. The great northern wall is the 1st co-op area in post searing.

TIP: Ignore the trolls in these forums, your sanity will depend on it.

Just trying to be helpful. Mostly I play in Presearing to help others get gold or lvl up before they leave to go to post. I do not play much in post anymore but I do on occasion have a guild member that asks for help so I go if I have the chapter.

Just trying to be helpful.

I remember when i first got this game I teamed up with some other players and before I knew it, I was in ToA(Temple of Ages for you newer players)without knowing how I got there. If this is what has happened to you and you don't want to miss out on game content, team up with henchies only. At least this way, you're in the "driver's seat" and fully aware of what it took to arrive at your destination.

As for you people who flamed the OP, shame on you for being negative and judgemental, you contributed nothing to this thread. I will give you one full stack of ecto if you have made it this far in life without ever asking for directions along the way.

Hey

Sorry for the kind of awkward post, was very frustrated. Started a new toon since I did not liked the second profession (elementalist). Now I am a monk and find it more usefull to my play style. I tried searching for players in all districts but I guess mostly were kids with no serious RP and playing in mind. So I googled and found this forum ... and the rest is history

The Game seemed hectic at first (I won a major reduction from a gaming magazin and for several bucks I got GW and GW:Factions). Installed both of them, I expected to be something combined, but it seems they are two separate storylines with no major connection untill now. Another problem which was hard getting used to is the story. I joined a party and in half an hour a guy congratulated me on being half-way through the game. I was like "Huh?" I am usually from 7PM to around 10PM EET +3 time. Usually hang out in International District with the name Harad Anubis. I'm a necro/monk. Indeed, I am for now only inviting henchmen and perhaps even players who are on the same level as I am with the story and rest.

Oh, and sorry if my english is not perfect ... it's not my first language!

Glad to be among you guys!
Harad.

Well welcome to the game as it were. Yes the Factions and Proph are two different "Chapters" as it were. So confusing I am sure.

The best idea that you have had is to run with others of your same "Progression" to learn as you go. Great idea. As for the type'os we really do not care. Thanks for the effort to spell things right enough to read though.

If you do run into problems my offer still stands.

There may be GMs, but no GM will hold everyone's hands through the storyline, regardless of what game it is.

Make friends, buy a strategy guide, check out guildwiki. And most importantly, kill Rurik and the Lich.

You mean Gamer master?(or whatever>.>)
You should look for a good guild to join, they would be a good choice when looking to play the game with actual people.

Not necesarly, even some Guru would be fine. Can you recommend me some heavy RP guilds though?

I'd recommend playing Prophecies until you feel comfortable with the system, then start a new character in Factions--I'm hoping you linked your Factions key to your account instead of making a new one. Even the earliest Factions quests give large rewards...throw the gold into your storage vault and give it to your Prophecies character. This can give you a decent jump start if you're still having trouble.

As for finding a guild, Guru has its own section:

Good luck!

I would also recommend not playing in International Districts if this is your first run through. Depending on your time zone, try join either Euro or American districts as you will find more people to join you on quests and missions. International districts tend to be pretty empty

This link will show you the whole Guild Connections section http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=263

You might want to post in the PvE Looking for Guild forum. Make sure that you mention you are interested in Role Playing and what chapters you have.

There are quite a few Role Player guilds that post on Guru. They are always looking for members as most players are not interested in the story line.

There is also Druid's Overlook http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=221 where people discuss the game lore.

Basically, Prophecies and Factions have two parts of the story that intersect in Nightfall and come to a conclusion.

Then you have the Eye of the North expansion (no character creation) where a side story from Prophecies is developed and concluded. It also covers the Charr and their reasons for the attack on Ascalon.

Take your time and enjoy the scenery. (GW has fantastic artwork.) Don't let anyone rush you, but remember that Missions can be redone as many times as you need.

i THINK this person means pre when he says post.
also dont delete your character for a new second profession - eventually you will be able to switch second profession at will.
