Elite area advice --- Ursan support
KIDGOOCH
I have a R/X with 10 norn 9 Asuran and maxed lightbringer, I want to do the Elite missions (all of them) but am a relative newb to them, when I tried to join pugs they don't want me to go Ursan they want FS trap splinter interrupt basically anything except Ursan. I can do all these well enough but don't know enough about any of the dungeons to use the skills effectively or timely. My other chars that are able to do the dungeons a Necro and a Paragon have same issues, run a SS/SV blood or GOD Mode Para. So basically what I'm asking is there any place I can find how to run the non-Ursan support chars through these areas from builds to strategies? I tried the search, but what I end up with assumes you already know what these things are. I'm having a similar problem with my monk as everyone wants a HB monk, is this really just spam healing?

I hate to pull this card, but if you're going in Ursan groups, then I don't understand why they want a trapper or anything.
In Ursan groups the damage output is so fast that there's really nothing that splinter or a trapper will contribute.
Try going through the dungeons with friends?

Snow Bunny, what he said is that he wants to use Ursan, but the pugs he is trying to join do not want Ursan.
He wants advice on how to get some practice in the other special elite area builds, because no one wants an amateur.

Well...
You need some friends and guildies that are willing to do that, then. Most pugs want Ursan because it's simplisitc and eliminates specialities.
I would suggest getting some friends for running through elite missions with unique builds; unique being non-ursan, and then learning how to synergize that better.
Pugs these days only want Ursan.
Johny bravo
They dont want him to run ursan. He is confused as to why they would want a trapper, SS/SV or God Mode paragon and HB healer. I dont believe he knows what the builds are.
Basically sounds like he is doing slavers and they want an Frozen Soil ranger, which is common even among ursan teams. Take FS, the rest of the skills are up to you, interupts are alway nice and Splinter weapon works well as they group the enemies if done right
The SV/SoS necro would be for Duncan. Basically I take Spoil victor, signet of lost souls and some well to use up bodies. Also don't forget to take swap for Duncan
HB healer for all. Many variants of this build think the basics are
healers boon, heal party, Glyph of lesser energy, healing ribbon, seed of life, healing seed, heal other or ethereal light
I would suggest just ditching the ursan thing all together but to each his own. hope that helps a bit

lol he's not asking what they are...he has them. He wants to know if there is anything on the net like strategy information on how to use them properly and strategically in the dungeons.

Sounds like Slavers dungeon as Johny said.
They are part of the ursan team there, but since they can only be played by a specific profession there is somewhat more demand for them. If you have such a profession you play those roles more then Ursan.
The Splinter is because of Frozen Soil and it's more efficient to run splinter barrage then going in and out form all the time. This Because you need to keep up Frozen all the time (and in a safe spot in range).
That's also how to play the build.
The SS/SV is for duncan only, probably still a swap necro.
I would not advice to play this build as starter, you best would be peeking how an experienced SS/SV handles this.
The imbagon build is because the permanent +armor makes it easier to complete because it takes some stress of not-so-good monks.
Easy to play, load the build, make sure the ursans take aggro first, build adrenaline and spam SY on recharge. Not a required build but I understand why people ask for it.
The HB is standard in Ursan teams because ursans should be packed together and the seeds will heal them up fast that way.
The hardest thing to play in this build is determining which ursan gets hit most while standing close to others, so you have maximum benefit from healing seed. The rest is just spam heal party and the occassional direct heal.
So much for strategy, builds are probably on pvxwiki and else in the profession subforums (PvE). General strategy for duncan can be found in the EotN forum.

Well, im going to give u the best and toughest advise.
you should try to learn any build that is useful beside ursan.
back to topic, have u tried to run the builds they ask you to run?
If u havent, give it a shot. But then imo, tell them that u are rather new to it.
And if ur not doing good enough, your gonna hear that. Yes it not too funny when someone rage on you, but thats the best way to learn what to do.
Im quite sure they will tell u what to do, IF ur not going it hehe.

tba- When you play with pugs, always try to take exp from what the other guys do.
Pve isnt very hard, and u rarely gotta concentrate anyways

Thanks for the advice!!!
As for the skills I have everything, however what I don't have is the exact build for each or what each skill is supposed to do in each situation.
When trying to pug these I get dropped since I don't have the applicable cookie cutter build, the trapper thing seems to be a DoA and UW thing.

Striker IV
well cookie cutter builds suck , but it tells the team you kinda know what to expect.
hmmm , heres my template for splinter if it helps
OggkchYYmKqzi5xgcuOYMmjx+iB
if it doesnt copy paste right , thats a plus sign
covers the basics, you should maintain fs a little back from the group, splinter barrage when can, heal spring if your brave enough to run up to the ursans and help the monks out
since ursan came to slavers, i HAS given my dervish more room to be there , and it does quite well. but i Love my ranger there
