Doppleganger: Idiot Proof Mo/x Set-Up
Frost Elryk
Ok, this was the first time I had to do this, and I just came up with this on my own. It took less than a minute, and that's considering that I didn't know what to expect.
Weapon Doesnt Matter, armor doesnt matter. (I would however suggest using some of both
Skill Slot 1 - Mend Ailment (Cheap to cast on yourself for zealots effect, and divine boon effect, and Doppleganger wont use it at all)
Skill Slot 2 - Elite Skill - Echo (Nice, but not absolutely necessary. Speeds kill along.)
Skill Slot 3 - Zealots Fire (Damage dealer)
Skill Slot 4 - Life Attunement (Just to reduce his attacks.)
Skill Slot 5 - Divine Boon (So you can heal but he cant, since only monk spell is mend ailment and he wont use it.)
Skill Slot 6 - Retribution (Self Explanatory, deals damage back to himself.)
Skill Slot 7 - Balthazar's Spirit (So you can gain Energy from his attacks)
Skill Slot 8 - Blessed Signet (To replenish your energy so you can cast 1, 2, and 3)
Set Smiting Prayers at Max (Mine was 13 (+1 head)).
Set Divine Favor at Max of what is left (Mine was 10).
Before you step on the last stone cast 4, 5, 6, and 7, then use 8 until your energy is full. Skip visual, then immediately attack, cast Zealot's Fire as soon as you are next to him. Then use echo and immediately cast mend ailment. Then you can alternate between the two till he is dead, using blessed signet if you need more energy. He may run, follow him or Zealots will not work.
The only reason I used Echo, not arcane echo is because I didnt know if I would want to double cast blessed signet, so it is up to you.

Yet still the most easy Mo/X setup for Doppleganger is to bring Healing Breeze only.
Here are the step-by-step instructions:
1.Wand him
2.Cast Healing Breeze as necessary
3.Win
He won't use Healing Breeze.
I could have made it easier by removing step 3 as it's given by following steps 1 and 2, thus leaving only two steps to follow for the real idiots.

It's even funner for an ele. Just bring a whole slew of slow casting mp eating spells like meteor shower and every attunement you have, and then cast aura on yourself and flare him to death.
T. Drake
Or don't bring any skills but Ursan Blessing.
The Doppleganger can't use PvE Skills.
It's probably the lamest way to kill it, but I call that the most foolproof way to win this mission :P
Works for any class, too... really!

Riotgear
Can't you still beat it by just bringing Shadow Form and not putting any points into it?
Life Bringing
Sadly, no. The Doppleganger uses SF just like afflicted assassins. In other words, he'll only use it when at critical health levels.
distilledwill
Anyway, in my opinion the most idiot proof way is to use PvE skills. Or go /N and use [Insidious Parasite][Reckless Haste][Spiteful Spirit][Price Of Failure] on him and sit back and watch the show.
Risus
For an ele, easiest way is to bring Flare and Fire Attunement. Healing Breeze could be a backup but you can spam flare faster than the dopple
imnotyourmother
I killed him with War as second and used a shield. The only skill I had was Retribution and he killed himself before he could kill me.
Woop Shotty
Mesmer secondary with domination skills helped me ascend some of my characters at a VERY early level.

this isn't even that good of a thread for tips on this. just take frenzy, or frenzied defense, then take some pve skills, like ursan, snow, w/e, and he'll keep frenzy on the entire time, while you get to freely kill him. simple as that.

(at least if your norn rank is decent)

Idiot proof build Mo/N - [scourge sacrifice][Awaken the blood][dark pact][Blood renewal][defile flesh] Maybe [protective spirit][healing breeze] too.
cast scourge sacrifice on doppelganger and watch him kill himself
[scourge sacrifice][Awaken the blood][dark pact][Blood renewal][pain inverter]
beat him in like 5 seconds.

I beat the Dopple in roughly 10-15 seconds with a bar filled with useless skills. Then at the righthand side of the bar, I put [Backfire] and [Empathy].
I casted Backfire and Empathy immediately, then the Dopple casted all the useless crap first. By the time he put Empathy on me, he had almost no life left.

Aldawg Thanes
As a ranger I simply filled my skill bar with as many spirits as I could, then let him start laying them for me. He will always start laying all the spirits before he fights. While he is laying the spirits, simply attack him. By the time he is done he will either be dead or have a lot less health than you and be easily beatable. Very easy win.

Thats about as easy as it gets IMO... Works on any class without a problem
Azora
Or u just can go mo/r and bring healing breeze and pet atacks..
Brian Fellow
i did vampirism vengeful/weapon of remedy
hurric
seriously, do we need ursan for this too? I used empathy + useless skills too.
i didn't think about frenzy though. It's a good idea.

- Healing Breeze
- Retribution
Cast Ret. on yourself, attack him. Use HB as necesarry. He can cast neither Ret. or HB.

Honestly I think this is a bad idea, letting idiots through will allow them to reach level 20 faster and be able to team with people in harder missions dooming them to death

yes, cause this totally couldn't be a thread geared towards those who have numerous 20's and are working on a survivor, or for example a character they don't care much about and don't want to put effort into...
Cause you know, power leveling totally didn't screw the concept of lvl20 way back in the beginning of proph, cause you also know, this is a game based on level rather than anything else.
you're totally right.

For a relatively Idiot-Proof 3-skill Mo/X (and X/Mo) Setup you'll need...
1. Max armour (Runes don't matter all that much, I had just bought a new one and managed to put 1 survivor's insignia in my chest piece and thought I'd rune it up later so I just went in with that ^ ^;; )
2. Smiting to 12 (Although the more the merrier) and Healing to 12 as well.
3. Then you'll need: Retribution, Holy Wrath and Healing Breeze. What makes it great is that all these skills are from prophecies - in LA or close to it (HW is in the Ascalon Settlement), which is important to those who don't own all campaigns/haven't gotten that far/don't want to waste tomes etc.
4. After you accept the mission and zone in, then right before stepping on the last stone cast Retribution, HW and HB and skip the clip.
5. Run next to him (which triggers him to switch from bow to axe).
6. Type /dance aka ...don't attack yourself
7. Watch him kill himself ^ ^
Takes a bit slow IMO (His attack speed is horrible >__<) but in ~1 min or less it's done so you'll bonus it and pretty much just... stand/dance there doing absolutely nothing ^___^ Doesn't require much brain power to take care of him.
But survivor's mind your health! This build is basically a who-goes-down-first kinda one, which means if you are near dying - zone out, get more HP and try again before you think your 5% will outlast his 25% XD

with that setup Above you will only be able to use Healing breeze once.
Unknown Duli
kinda for any class (used on 7 diff characters and no issues)
go mesmer 2ndary....
put 12points in domination...
equip empathy (no other skill needed)
cast empathy on dopp....
dance around till he dies (will die seconds after 2nd casting)....
poof!! Masters (works just as easy in HM also)

And you'll technically only need it for that little bit to get past his bloody bow attacks while you load/stabilise lag and can run next to him to force him to use his axe.
And mreow! I know it's not the best idea out there, I'd never claim that, but hell - if it works, then it's good enough for me

So I'm pretty sure this thread could go on and on and on and on about easy ways to kill the doppleganger. Its rediculously easy to kill him using any class at all. I garuntee I could find a way to kill him using one and only one skill for every proffession.
Exept if you dont know what you are doing quite yet lol. I remeber when I did it with my warrior (about 3 years ago) I didnt really know what it was so I just went in with my block stances and self heals and all. Still won though.

Most of the people bad enough to actually have trouble with the doppler generally do not know about guru.

Beat him in HM in 3 sec. with only 4 skills on my bar... a sac, Ebon Assassin, Pain Inverter, and Ebon Sniper.
He sacced once, then Snap! Headshot!

The Real Idiot Proof Mo setup:
[build prof=Mo/N][Scourge Sacrifice][Awaken the Blood][Blood Renewal][empty][empty][empty][empty][empty][/build]
Emptys can be other sac skills, but you don't need it because the instant he does AtB & BR with Scourge Healing on, he sacs 100% of his health. gg. Surprised only one guy posted it. xd.
