yay for Wiki!
Quote:
Lucky points are acquired by:

* Winning tickets in Nine Rings or Rings of Fortune (3-55 points).
* Using a Four-Leaf Clover and getting 15% Death Penalty removed (4 points).
* Retaining a lockpick when using it to open a chest (250 points).
The lucky title isn't cheap. You have to buy it, no matter what way you decide to go.

if you want lucky points fast, use lockpicks in noob areas...i/e sunqua vale, old ascalon and such....you retention rate should be threw the roof, so thats a quick way for lucky points.

No see I haven't flamed you.
And this was me being serious.
Since when has opening newb/easy to get to chests given a higher lock pick retention rate?
Still haven't proven any facts?

Low end chests have a very high retention rate at even a base lucky title. It's a proven fact that opening them retains more lockpicks, therefore generating more lucky points.

Ummm, it tells you your chance of retention before opening? And it is higher on these chests? And retention gives points? WTF is there to disput?

Just go lockpick in the low level areas. Expensive, but works.

"Lockpicks were released with the addition of hard mode. In hard mode all chests are Locked Chests and require lockpicks instead of keys. Lockpicks have a base 10% chance of surviving the opening of a Locked Chest. This percentage increases based on the character's ranks in the Lucky and Treasure Hunter titles.

Using a lockpick to open a high-end chest adds 1 point toward the Treasure Hunter title. If you successfully retain a lockpick after use, you gain 250 points towards the Lucky title. If it breaks, you gain 25 points towards the Unlucky title.

Lockpicks also work on all normal mode chests. If you try to open a normal mode chest with both the proper key and a lockpick in your inventory, the game will ask you which item is to be used. Each normal mode chest provides an inherent bonus to the probability of retaining the lockpick. The bonus is related to the value of the corresponding key so that chests with cheaper keys have a higher bonus. While opening cheapest chests with lockpicks doesn't provide valuable drops or points to Treasure Hunting, it is a relatively efficient method of advancing one's rank in the Lucky title. "

Can I enter in on this. OK I will thanks.

The Lockpicks are great for Lucky and Unlucky titles at the SAME time. I get some picks in LA and then i map to Borials Station in GW:EN.

In NORMAL mode I open the 1-2 chests that can be found right at the Snow Wurms for advancement in my Lucky Title.

In Hard Mode I open the 1 chest that can be found 99% of the time at the Snow Wurms for advancement in my Unlucky Title.

These runs take about 1.5 Minutes with a War running a speed buff of 25%. If you have a ele with the 33% buff it would be 13% faster runs of course.

Note: Snow Wurms drop LOCKPICKS 1 for every 100 killed or so + they drop GOLDS and Gold (50g in normal mode and 100g in hard mode) These are easily SOLO'd with the right build and requires NO armor.

If I have time and a festival is coming I get a few lockpicks and head to Fort Ranick Mission in normal mode (post searing) and farm the charr carvings and open 3 chests in around an 8 minute run. I average 25-30 carvings along the way. You can sell these carvings for around 20 gold each at festival times (5K /Stack) or save 3 stacks and trade for a stack of something else like drunkard/Party Animal or other goodies and sell them for 25K per stack.

If you do the math that is 20 Lockpicks per stack of sparkles or whatever (250 points towards a title perhaps)

Either way you can almost get 3 stacks in 4 hours.

So Recap PER HOUR FARMING FORT RANIK (7 Runs/Hour)
1750 Lucky Points
25 Unlucky points
1 Broken Lockpick
190 Charr Carving = 3780 gold

in one month at 4 hours a day
210,000 Lucky Points
22,800 Charr carvings (91 Stacks or so) * 456,000 Gold (if you convert that to festival items that is 25K/stack and 30 stacks is 750,000 Gold)
3000 Unlucky Points
120 Broken Lockpicks

So by Christmas you will have 17 Weeks to Accumulate a HUGE fortune to buy whatever you like.
Lets just imagine that you get only 25 carvings a run and find just 1 chest and it takes you 12 minutes to do a run.
That would be 5 Runs/Hour at 3 Hours for the next 124 days would Yield:

Charr Carvings - 46,500 Charr Carvings (186 Stacks @ 5K = 930,000 Gold) or 62 stacks of festival items at a value of 25K per stack or 100 gold per point is 1,550,000 gold
465,000 Lucky Points
2,325 Unlucky Points from 93 Broken Picks at a cost of 116,250 gold

Money made is 1,550,000 -116,250 is a nice tidy profit of 1,433,750 gold. So get out there and start killing Charr.
Don't forget to craft yourself Vrs Charr Weapons in the Eye of the North Outpost!
