I'm sorry if this turns out to be an insane idea, but a while ago I remember reading on wiki about all the skills that they removed from the game, or they didn't have time to implement. Well, seeing as we need new content for the next two years, why not bring some of them back? Perfectly balanced, of course.

Lightning Storm

Energy Cost: 25
Casting Time: 3 seconds
Recharge: 0 seconds

Spell. You invoke a Lightning Storm at target foe's location. Each second for next 10 seconds, one foe in the area is interrupted and stuck for 14...61...73 lightning damage.

How cool would that be? Perhaps it could be capped off a new, hidden boss... (don't forget that non-elites can be capped :P). I'm pretty miffed that this was removed simply on the basis that they didn't want air magic to have aoedot (area of effect damage over time) spells.

I quite like the idea of Dissapear, too :P.

What do you think? Could introducing a new handful of skills sate our boredom as we wait for GW2?

imo, they should be able to adjust and add all of the skills that they never added, unless they were already replaced by skills we currently have (i.e. Beast Mastery Calls), or their function is absolute bunk (i.e. Unnatural Signet).

I'd like the old removed skills, but how would a function like 'dissapear' work?

/signed, though I think ANet would screw up royally if the implemented some of these (dissapear function!)

I don't really like the idea of introducing certains effects to skill lines that were not designed for them, it will probably introduce unforseen side affects. The only way I could see them being implemented would be PVE only, but they were removed for a reason. A very good reason

A skill like this, as fun as it would be, would detract from the fact that Air Magic is more of a single-target attribute. Maybe if it were a new Sunspear Skill, instead of that traversty of a PvE skill we currently have it would be ok.

Adding a new set of PvE only skills sounds good, and also sounds like a massive flamefest waiting to ignite!!

A lot of those skills sound bad, probably didn't make it into the game for a reason.

LOL, Unnatural Signet and Nature Rituals sounded awful before Factions.

It looks like a lot of the "removed" skills were just slightly altered and renamed into skills that were actually implemented. Lightning storm however I WANT! Gimmee! gogogo!

I guess that the avatar would just vanish. I'd also guess that you might want to add some functionality like it ends if they're moving under the effect of an IAS, they attack or cast spells that do damage or otherwise harm people...also if they're holding an item. Making it an illusion spell wouldn't hurt either. At which point you've pretty much stripped out any and all fun that could be had with it, save for invisi-monks.

It might not be that bad as a PvE only skill in where it causes all mobs to loose aggro on that character...

I wouldn't mind seeing it though...oh, and Lightning Storm too. It'd need to be changed as well. Lose the interrupt effect, increase the casting time, decrease the duration from 10 to 5, add a recharge in the 30-60 second range, add in the 25% armour penetration and perhaps up the damage a little bit and it could be alot of fun.

I would use a lotta of those removed skills, except for those from Prophecies. But Paragon and Dervish ones look nice -.-

There were many skills that were removed or changed.
Now that there are PvE/PvP skill separation and PvE skills, it won't harm to bring them back.
Prophecies is the only campaign without PvE skills.
They should come back as Prophecies PvE skills, either unlinked or linked to normal attributes.
They could be the rewards for making the Sorrow's Furnace and Titan non-repeatable quests.

As for preventing this particual skill from having a big AoE effect in PvP, the solution is easy:

- PvP: hits up to 1..3 random foes (maximum 3)
- PvE: hits upt to 3..30 foes (maximum 30)

I agree with the idea for some of those skills. Others are so terrible they need to stay removed.
