I like the katana and shinobi style blades and would like to weild one of them as my main weapon. The problem is that I am currently carrying a "rocktail's stinger" green sword and I don't think there is a way to mod a katana to be as powerful as a green weapon. There are no katana style unique weapons and I dont think Factions weapons can have "inscriptions" on them which limits their power, also.

Green weapons aren't any more powerful than golds. It will just be expensive to find a gold 15^50 or one with an inscription slot.

i was under the impression that "factions" weapons (katanas) didnt have inscription slots, as they were only in Nightfall and EOTN campaigns.

Weapons from Proph and Factions did not have "inscriptions" but they do have the same modifiers, you just can't change them. For example weapons in factions can have 15^50 just like the "strength and honor" inscription, it's just you can never remove the 15^50 from factions of proph or replace that with another modifier. Inscriptions just made it possible to find a rare skin (or one you like) and even if it had bad mods on it (like 11^50) that you can change that for a perfect mod. So the Tyrian and Kanthan version of perfect weapons are more rare and cost more because of that. But they can have the same exact modifiers.

Also after updates gold katana's can be found with inscription slots from the Fissure of Woe end chest. (I've gotten one that way)

I just sold an r9 gold inscribable katana that I got from the zaishen chest, for about 40k I believe. Some noob was wisping me telling me all factions katanas are inscribable and it was worth 5k at best but meh. Anyway, zchest katanas are inscribable and not terribly expensive.

so, inscribable katanas are possible. It seems like there it is EXTREMELY rare to get one, though. Too bad, it seems like more work than its worth.

Have you check out the game lately. In KC there is a nice guy there named Manzo [Weaponsmith] he will gladly craft you a Q9 15^50 Katana for 40 iron ingots, 6 steel ingots, and 5 platinum. Buy a 20/20 Sundering Sword Hilt and a Pommel of Fortitude +30hp and your set.

Another one to look at is the Shinobi Blade. It's Katana-like, but shorter and straight-edged. They are inscribable, too (I know b/c i have one ).

edit: oops, did not read OP fully my bad

No, they come with inherent stats, but there are so many of them in Factions that they cover the whole range of them.

@Op If you want to duplicate the Stinger with a Katana skin, then Sheco is the one you want to talk to rather then Manzo.
