Just a thought...

Would it be possible to somehow make a "minimal install" of guild wars on a computer with low system resources?

Could files be deleted manually? Meshes etc...

I mean, we all saw Ascii Quake, I am not advocating that but still...

Deleting files will only give you more free disk space, and not better performance.

Anyway if you want to delete files then you'll have to find a way to unzip the gw.dat file (.dat files are a huge archive of data, just like a .rar file, unzipping it requires special tools).

Not to point out the obvious here. GW is not very big. Delete some porn or old music you do not listen to.

Even if you could "unzip" the dat.file and delete some parts, the game client would download them as soon as you reconnect with the server, and that would mean worse performance as it would be done in the background.

Try turning off as many graphics options you can in the game, that might help you with performance.

It would also be against the EULA, since technically, it's a hack.

Other than screenshots and templates, there is basically only 2 files to GW - gw.exe and gw.dat - that's as minimal as it gets.
