Taming a bear in Pre

Now before anyone starts flaming me for starting a thread with out doing a search, I did a lot of looking on several forums including GW Guru, Presearing Community and Wiki. Some say it will work and some say it won't. I've read the how to's and have tried and tried with a number of different partners and we still can't make it work. Closest we've come is about 3/4 of the way before the bear cast the spell interrupt. By law of averages and over a hundred bears it should have worked at least once. Is this possible or not? My friends are starting to think I'm loony, but I've seen a bear companion in pre. Any advice would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

It's possible. I've done it.

You need to have the charmer standing exactly at the edge of spell range and the bait standing on the opposite side of the bear. Both should count the bear's attacks and know when a brutal mauling is coming. Just before the bear uses brutal mauling, the charmer should start the charm and the bait should back up so that the bear has to follow him in order to use brutal mauling, thus moving itself out of spell range of the charmer. The idea is to separate the bear far enough from the charmer that it can't get back into spell range to use break charm in time.

its definitly possible, ive done it as well.
just takes a lot of times and if u dont do it exactly correct, it wont work.
just keep trying ull get it eventually took me a long time as well but eventually me and a good friend did it

Besides the regular timing and stuff like that, have the person who is helping you cap the bear, a lower lvl than you so it most likely wont run towards you. Some people also say to have all your attribute points in Beast Mastery, but I'm not sure if that theory does anything. Can't hurt though.

Definately possible, I have 3 myself and helped at least 5 others get theirs. Does take numerous attempts and sometimes needs rezoning to work though

Oh, one more tip, as some people have said, it takes several re-zones. Thats because some bears act differently, such as some only chase the capper, others don't slide/move while using Brutal Mauling, ect.

My question is why do you want a bear? YEs it is possible and I have seen several of them running around. The reason that i say this is the Bear has the WORST attack rate of all pets.

Is it a "Look at me" or a "Yes it can be done"

I do know that you can go to WIZZARDS FOLLY and pay 2K for someone to help you get the bear.
