Answer to OP: Maybe...

It all depends on the release date of GW2.
Come in too late (after D3) and I'll be very hard pressed to spend money on it.

Then again, if GW2 gets released before D3 it'll be a definate yes.
@ Anet devs: No pressure guys

No, Arena Net has proven time and time again that they have no clue what their doing. GW only became a success due to f2p, if GW was p2p then no one would play it.

Definitely yes, I have spent almost 1000 hours in GW, best value for the money ever, Im confident GW2 will be good, anyway I think that diablo 3 and guild wars 2 are two entirely different games, and Im planning on playing both

Yeah; with no monthly fee, it's hardly painful to pick it up and play.

However, how much I'll play, I don't know. Guess it depends on what else I'm playing. I've currently given up GW in favor of Tabula Rasa, but by the time GW2 comes out maybe I won't feel so burnt out on it.

It's difficult to leave a game when there is nothing comparable to replace it.

Although, I have a feeling that even after GW2 is released, I will spend time with GW. Over time you get attached to your characters.

I will surely move to gw2, since i`m overbored with doing the same missions over and over again. As the matter of fact, i`m not playing gw at all any more. But will the gw2 get repetitive, that remains to be seen.

Nope. I will never touch another online, mmoish type game that has anything to do with anet or ncsoft. I havnt played gw besides events in about 6 months.

When a company releases a game, and it sucks, the sequal normally sucks just the same. Same flavor, new packaging= same flavor.

bad game is bad.

To me it will depend on what happens in the near future I think. Because it's taking so long rignt now I will be looking at Aion aswell. If I really like that game, I will want to invest time into it and then I won't have the time to play GW2.
It kinda sucks, cause I have my HoM ready and all but I am now playing my storage characters cause I am bored to that point. GW is a good game but without new content and no idea what's happening with GW2, chances are that another game is going to capture my attention and then I would need a really good reason to go back to GW(2). In fact if I get captured in another game, like Aion might prove to be, I don't see myself coming back.

Wow some of you guys are really bitter over just a simple game, it's like since you're having a bad time with it that means it's a terrible game and nobody else is allowed to like it. If you dislike Anet and GW so much perhaps you should take a hike and find a different game to play, or at least a different forum to whine on. Take your stupid vendetta elsewhere.

All 'n' all I will probably end up playing both if GW2 is good. I'm not going to leap out of my chair and run to the store the day it's released, though. I'll wait for reviews, and I'll get my hands on a trial before buying anything since many reviews these days can't fully be trusted, most are biased and too vague for the reasons they like/dislike games.

GW2 will bring in a new kind of gamer (the grinder) as the last chapter and parts of Factions and the expansion prove that the majority of people really like farming and grind over skill. Anet/NCsoft will lose that small portion that came to GW because of skill > time, but, will gain a whole slew of new people from WOW and all those other popular mmorpg type games. GW2 is not going to be a repeat of GW1 why should it. lol But, of course your skill > time players are expecting that, but, of course they will be in for a big surprise and shock when they see how a REAL persitant world really works.

Look fanboy, The OP is asking who will move on, and a yes or no answer normally arn't good enough. This is a discussion, and the OP wants to know. So if you don't like negative replies on a discussion then you should stop reading ALL forums. Every topic will have positive and negative comments.

Guildwars is just a game, bitter has nothing to do with just not liking it and not wanting to deal with a broken game in the future. It sounds like you are the one who is bitter that anyone could not like your game. Get over it.

I totally agree with this post and I am sick of the people who don't play any more who think they should drop in and bash the game at any time.

I'm till enjoying GW, so yeah I'l be purchasing GW2 for sure.

I've been playing since day 1, since the game was release, I've been throught every single Buff/nerf and update, and the way I see it with these thing is that if you can't handle the change, just leave. Its all about adapting to the change.

I will most likely buy it as soon as it comes out, or even try out beta if possible... But, if it doesn't have most the unique/original things you can do in GW1, then I probably won't play it, but it just wouldn't be the same without them. These will include; Solo Farming including Invinci Monk Builds, Shadow Form Sins, Eles, Necros... Gw's type of farming I think is what makes the game really fun and unique, without it, it would suck. Also, things like Chest Running, or Dual Farming Dungeons, or Simple things like being able to equip any weapon regardless of Requirement, same goes for armors. But, it seems this type of stuff won't work with persistent worlds... thats what kind of scares me. There will be no more soloing an area, because you will see other people out there. Farming in other MMo's is horrible, its nothing like GW... Camping one spawn spot and killing one enemy over and over and over is jus plain boring. Being able to gather of mobs of enemies and killing them all is definately the best way to farm for profit, and also the most fun. I also hope there won't be any lvl requirements for skills, weapons, armors, or anything, cause I hate that shit in MMO's. In the end, I will still try it out, but if it is nothing like Gw1, I won't know what I would do, I would be pretty disappointed. I also don't like how you play most of the game by yourself in other mmo's, but of course there will be henches and heros, but how will that work if there are other people with their own groups, and how will you beable to add/kick a hero? would you beable to do it while in battle? what im thinking, is that heros/henches will only be available for instance areas such as missions and dungeons, but that would suck... that would mean that you will be pretty much alone doing quest and shit, and have to rely on stupid people.

I also think it would be alot better if they have Instance and Persistent areas, and let the player choose which he/she wants to play in. This would solve alot things for the game, and please alot gw1 fans. That way we would beable to solo an area without anyone getting in your way, or taking the good farmin spots. It might also solve the problem for people that might want to Chest Run in an area, or do anything that would require solo play.

I dunno, its all just scary to think of when we have absolutely no idea what gw2 will be like. I think they kept us in the dark long enough.

It depends on how Anet continues to handle GW1 and how GW2 will turn out (skill aquirement, classes etc.).

I have my eyes on Aion at the moment. GW2 will have to have something pretty interesting to compete with the bloated MMO market.

This first reply sums it up.

No one can assume (yet) that GW2 will have the same problems, or negative points that GW1 has until the beta comes out.
I'm sure that players who arn't planning on getting the game could be swayed if the beta turns out to be a huge success.

I'll be playing. After all even if I get fed up with it after a month it's not exactly a financial disaster.

Played WoW for a while, and I may go and kick my lvl 70 back into life when WotLK comes out but GW remains my preferred game. I was playing Age of Conan but I'll be amazed if that doesn't go the way of Fury and Hellgate within six months, and it won't be missed, by me at least.

Sooner or later, yes. But the timing could not be worse: So many games coming out. I'll be playing D3 as soon as it comes out, and there's Two Worls II, Dragon Age, some space trade/combat games (sequels to X3 and probably Elite IV), maybe Space Siege... I don't know. I'll probably wait a little longer and in the meantime read forums about GW2.

i wont play gw2 because it is clear so far that anet has lost sight of what made their original game great. the game is looking like a generic mmo at this point, with a huge grindy lvl cap (100 or even no cap) and a update team that is out of touch. i dont even play gw1 anymore, but i check updates from time to time. all the skill updates have been ridiculous, with skill changes that are made as a band-aid over the problem builds instead of addressing the fundamental problems inherent in the system.

in addition, gw2 will NEVER feel new again. for those of you who have played this game for a long long time since the beginning, how many of you can say that when u play gw2, u wont have alot of ur friends who u met online playing as well? the joy of the original gw was going out and meeting new ppl thru missions (which you coudlnt simply solo wit henchies or heroes) or doing pvp. gw2 is gonna attract mostly veterans of gw1, and that just doesnt excite me very much.

so yeah. hell i can be wrong, if anet manages to bring back the spirit of the very first gw before nightfall came ill defintely buy. at this point, that seems highly unlikely though.

The question is not so easy to answer. I am 99% sure I will buy GW2, but that doesn't means I will MOVE to that game, I mean, I plan to play GW1 forever (PvP at least), AND ALSO play GW2, not moving from one to the other.

They are all the same all these online games are carrot in front of the horse rpgs so comparing them is relevent. Of course WOW is the leader of them all since it has the most subscribers and buyers of any other online rpg. The only thing that separates GW from the rest is their no monthly fee that is all, but, since they don't provide constant content like say EQ then the value of GW goes down a lot faster since really it's no better than a Diablo 2 or Neverwinter Nights as far as being free to play online. Worst thing about GW is and has always been no really leet loot to go after, looks just doesn't do it for a lot of people most are powergamers of some sort (just look at the population of all the other online rpgs it's all about the POWER of the loot not the looks). GW will always have its niche crowd, but, hardly anything like the others in population and increasing fun value. Once you've done all the quests/missions it's just another boring game like the offline rpg games. It's a pretty close call to say Morrowind gives as much fun value and longevity as GW if not more with all the player made mods.
