i tried to install windows XP SP3 2day and after 5+ failed attempts i found that i had to remove my custom boot/login screen for it to work.Dose any 1 know if its ok to put my custom screens back or do i have to stay with the boring windows originals?

I run sp3 and bootskin as well as logon studio, from wincustomize, on my laptop, no problems. You may need to remove and reinstall the apps.
I have noticed that some, very few, cause a BSoD.

You can use tons of custom stuff on your installs. Check out MSFN.org as they have a ton of information on these items.
