What happens when someone reports you?


Someone I was in a mission with said they had an issue with my characters name, and was going to report me.

So if they do, what happens then?

You may get a temporary ban and then have to change your characters name.

It isn't likely to happen unless the name has some hidden meaning I am unaware of.

I was just wondering if AN just decides or if they contact you, and if so how?

They just do it and you are suspended for 72 hours.

I know this because mine just ended on Sunday.

(rifle) if they temp ban that feel free to PM me. i am in that very anual publication. my white tail is in the boone and crockett. id love to send A net a long winded letter explaining that hunting isnt a reason for banning. now if the name is some veiled reference to the pope and young kids ,....... well youre on your own bubba.

I doubt you would get banned over something like this. I've seen poeple get away with far, far worse things.

If your name is totally innocent then take a screenshot of them saying they're gonna report you. Then report them for harrassment. Don't tell them you're reporting them, just do it. Probably won't get them banned, but if they get their jollies doing this and a few others also report them they might go away for a bit.

No kidding, saw a throbbing pickle one day in RA. Made me lawl.

On a serious note, don't worry about being permanently banned or anything like that. The worst you should get is a short temporary ban.

Well believe it or not I have a friend named Wayne Kerr... REAL NAME... who used it as an ingame name once (not on GW) and got temp banned for it. That's right folks, banned for using your REAL NAME. I'd be spewing.

its a game yeesh - of course do a ban if its something racist like 'silly *insert racist n word here*' or something along those lines.
a buddy of mine has the name 'Daddy Hit Me' on his pvp toon, he hasn't been temp banned yet for it and he's hade it for a good 12 months at least. guess its just certain amount of time til it happens.
do you think they would temp ban me and get me to change name because my storage toon is called 'Ghosts Xunlai Bltch' ? (not bitch, but bltch)?

I am Jewish and whoever thought "Jewel" is offensive can get get a punch in the gut by me and many other Jews for making us look so oversensitive :P

OP: I wouldn't worry about getting reported. Someone reported me once because they took offense to my role playing being drunk. I said "Thank yoush verrry musch! *hic*" after buying some SPIKED EGGNOG from him. Nothing came of it.

But if A-Net does determine that you have an offensive name, they'll suspend your account for 72 hours and then have you re-name your character. Not a big deal.

Lol you must not have seen the thread about the guy who named his character Brawling Headbutt, its the name of a skill and he got a ban for it.

People need to stop being so stained-glass emotionally wise with other people. Games shouldn't be the place for this crud, save for a 'real' example of something obviously degrading, such that would be too obvious to the community at large. Not sure some people realize that at times.

lol. i have the word "pimp" in my name and i havent got banned, and i can be one of the most obnoxious person in the district if i feel like it. lol. its been 6 months, no ban yet. your name doesnt even seem slightly offencive no matter how i look at it...unless there is somthing offencive about popes being young...oh wait...eh...you have to skew it alot (and i mean ALOT) but i can see it. still, doubt you will be banned for it.

saw some girl complaining about how she couldnt use the name Fuki.....marginally understandable..but then again its a legitimate name.

i wonder if they'd ban you for using 'Chuc Norris' cos chuc rhymes with f.....

aaanyways, i think if people go around reporting others names all the time, its them who should be banned. Its a GAME, theres worse things shown on TV.
