hi.

im having issues with driver failures on my computer, its a basic dell with windows vista on it. now, the video card is not super but i play guild wars on it just fine and without issue, but, some places cause the video card driver to fail and guild wars to close. i have all the campaigns and the only places i have issues are in asuran territory and i also cant go into most of the dungeons in eye of the north without a failure and subsequent program close.

i just cant figure why almost everywhere is fine but these certain areas cause my video card to fail. anyone know what i can do? thanks.

Do you have INtel GMA 950 for your graphics card???

Please post what your graphics card is.... there are some patches and tweaks for certain problems with certain cards.

Then you have an Intel GMA 3100/X3100 Integrated graphics chip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMA_950#GMA_3100

Which, is why Guild Wars crashes, it is a very well known problem that Guild Wars will crash with this chipset: Mainly in EotN, especially Rata Sum.

There is fixes for this, however I unfortunately do not know them, we'll have to wait until someone else comes along here and posts on how to do it - or it might be able to be searched on here.

read this thread here:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10306211

the same workaround will work with you as well.

beware though, results can be very... um... interesting.

So random question (sorry for the thread hijack, but seemed the logical place to ask):

I've never actually been to Rata Sum. Do most integrated graphics chips have this problem? I'm hesitant to take my Intel 945 too far into Asuran territory now.

Well it is safe to say that you may screw yourself if you do it, because if you do crash then your character is stuck there, and you are going to have to use another computer to get it out.

Rata Sum uses some graphical effect that Integrated graphics chips don't like/don't support, so you would really be taking chances. I'm not sure if everyone is 100% guaranteed to crash, but you still take the chance.

yeah, that fix is anything but stable sometimes. at this point, there's really nothing you can do except try different GMA drivers to find one that's more stable.
