Maybe GvG isn't a "major sporting event".

Think of it this way. With only ~2 folks on GW1, it would take a month to fix it to give another mAT, so you're best just waiting for the next mAT and hope there aren't any other problems. Also, there are no real-world prizes, so it could have been worse. Most connection problems were fixed by the swiss elimination, right?

God, I guess I was wrong in this thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...0311828&page=1

I eat my words. A.net doesn't even recognize a problem or try to correct it(only for 2 hours my ass).
Unless there is some serious staff shakedowns at A.net... I have lost my faith and hope for the rest of this game's lifetime and GW2.

What about someone that for over 6 months had his Survivor r2 and was about to get r3 today or tomorrow? Boom, err7, go to hell.

If it takes you that long (a month) to gather 8 people to play and think about build (hmm, WS crap or r-spike), then don't play ;d

About lags: Like I said, one of the reasons I'm not buying GW2. They. Don't. Give. A. Damn.

I'd laugh, but you're not joking.

It doesn't take a month to gather 8 people and to think about a build, although if you read the post you quoted you'd know he wasn't talking about that. It takes a (up to) a month to get the 20 QP's to enter the monthly. It also takes awhile to get a core group of 8 decent players that can synergize well together. Takes a lot more time and skill then getting r3 survivor, which takes absolutely no skill, and little time.

Also, if it takes someone 6 months to get from r2 to r3 survivor, [email protected]

rawr would have won anyway. I only could laugh about this thread. Everyone that loses always seek some excuses, now it was easy with a bit lag. Just blame rawr for being superb to you.

PS: Legendary Survivor takes 8-10 hours.

Of course rawr was going to win, that's a no brainer. Doesn't change the fact that the lag prevented some good guilds from getting into single elimination because of the lag. People aren't angry because rawr won, people are angry because 1) it prevented them from doing somewhat good in the mAT, and 2) this shows how much ANet give a shit about GW.

PS: 8-10 hours is nothing.

Actually, it's exactly the kind of policy i would expect from Anet. They probably have the worst CR of all games i ever played.

this is not about excuses for failing or missed opportunities. It's about the fact that Anet should give a proper statement.
I would even be happy with a hint at the Tournament Rules and a very short excuse to all who were affected. But I already have given up on that, but maybe things will get a little bit better in the future.

i think Anet should care about this stuff, it would have been really nice if some Anet guy just admits the server errors durrin the mAT, now its like their to afraid to acknowledge it.

Ridiculous not to even _acknowledge_ the problem. PvP support is seriously lacking, as this event highlights once more.

Anet should accept and apologise the problem for two reasons. The first is simply common decency. A lot of people have put a lot of time to getting to the monthly AT and have had any chance to get anywhere in it destroyed, through no fault of their own while Anet had the opportunity to delay the tournament once it was obvious that a major fault was present.

The second is that Anets behaviour towards Guild Wars will be one of the critical factors for a lot of people deciding whether to purchase Guild Wars 2. Showing yourself to act callously towards your playerbase and not attempting to engage and deal with legitimate problems when they are presented to you by that playerbase (or even completely ignoring said playerbase) will result in negative attitudes towards Anet and any future products from them.

It seems idiotic for both reasons to even refuse to accept that there is a problem, but then again that never stopped Anet from doing (or not doing) anything previously.

The first part won't do any good anyway. Will it really make anyone feel better if we get an empty "we are so sorry" message? We know they won't change anything, we know that next time it might just happen again. Why do people want something without any meaning?

The second part, you are overestimating most of the community. As soon as there will be some screenshots and/or videos available everyone will be talking about how great GW2 will be and how they can't wait to play. Maybe 1-2 people will point out how GW1 ended, but nobody will care about those and most will actually make fun of them. Actually, in 3-4 months most people will have forgotten about this anyway.

So there is no reason for Anet to say anything. A "we are sorry" might actually do them more harm in the long term. But I do hope Izzy says sorry by fixing VoD.

I have expected something to be said. I've been disappointed by the lack of any response at all. I wasn't qualified, seldom play any GvG at all, but I still believe some response should have been made. The players that worked to qualify deserve better than the silence even if it is a simple apology.

Not everyone has EotN or likes to ,,cheat'' titles with HFFF or Kilroy.

Still, a lot of guilds had their chances of winning/scoring high lost. Who knows, maybe dR could have won and not rawr? But it's pretty much visible why there is no redux. If rawr didn't win, there would be. But someone already said that.
