W/Rt VwK UW Question

No, i'm not having trouble doing the smite run, my question is.... Can the w/rt VwK build farm the Chaos Plains? The run is very easy, especially with a constant 25% speed boost, but will I be able to farm there? Also, please don't tell me "It would take way too long to do it like that" or anything involving time, I just want a straight forward answer.

As I recall, it was possible, and probably still is. It's somewhere in the farm section, and its quite an old build. But it should still be able to do it. Even the cursed riders and mindflays are possible since you aren't using any enchants. Just look around in farming section. It must still be there.

It definitely was possible, here's Witte's original guide (just scroll down to the UW w/rt part). I myself dont use the build so I can't tell you if it works or not anymore.

Well it definately looks possible the way he is doing it, but just wondering, don't they have interrupts...?

Okay I reached the plains and managed to kill one of the riders and then 3 of the spectres, the only problem is energy management really. You can kill 3 of them but if there is a group of 6 or 9 you're most likely going to die I think, here is the build i'm using...

Dolyak Signet, Bonetti's Defence, VwK, Vengeful Weapon, To The Limit!, Sprint, Signet of Stamina and Enraging Charge

Any suggestions on what I can switch out to kill them easier / live longer?

It is possible, using that ancient trick of luring groups without getting into their casting range, by using a longbow off an elevated position (e.g. Ice Imp farm, Forest of the Wailing Lord). Although fairly troublesome to do nowadays in many areas, as creatures dont seem to follow those good old guidelines of "well, seeing as my wand is just too l33t to ignore, ill use it instead of meteor shower!". ow, and for the W/Rt, try the abovementioned tactics, using Witte's resilient weapon build. xP

It is very possible. I used to farm it on my warrior. Taking out 9 specters wasn't to hard, but taking on anymore was a bit of a challenge at times. I don;t remember the exact build, but weapons swapping to a 40/40 resto set really helps (omgz, pvp tactics in pve?).

That only works with creatures that are casters and wand attack.

Anyone have a build thats meant to do it? For some reason I don't see how it would be possible to take on more than like 3... With the interrupts and loss of energy, I just don't see it happening.

Aha, yes tx for pointing that out ducky, forgot they were melee. No need to tell me where the tactics work tho, ive used it enough

[ignorance] is your friend: just as it runs out, cast VwK - they will almost never interrupt you, as they all try to cast ignorance on you again...
the run takes 1-1,5h including the smite run, and nets 6-10 ecto/run...
didnt had the time to try the run since the UW update, but I think the mindflays also can be farmed

the build I use:
VwK, Vengeful wep, dolyak sig, feel no pain, I'm unstoppable, bonettie's def, sig of stamina, sprint
attribs:
strength: 12+1+1
restoration: 12
tactics: rest

equipment:
luethenants helm
-3/hexed shield
+3 strength armor piece for sig of stamina

That was an extremely helpful post but... Lets say I don't really want to farm Norn Points , can those skills be replaced with any others?

I only use the 2 norn skill to the run, and I used them at r5 with no problem, so you can replace them with any skill that helps you survive the traps, if they can not be evaded...

i saw a w/e build with armor of earth etc,
that could do it, but vwk probably not cause of the interupts

Any suggestions on what I can switch out to kill them easier / live longer? 6 worked for me aswell, but 9 it's impossible imo. they eventually drain your energy and you die. signets are hard to keep up because of ignorance and since u don't gain too much adrenaline for bonetti's, I don't see a good way to do this. hiding energy with a +15/-1 would be an idea, but eventually you run out... some more testing maybe ?

no - it is not impossible, I've cleared the Chaos Plains several times before

the right skill order is:
hit VwK just before the aggro -> Ignorance wears off: hit Dolyak, VwK is still on -> Ignorance wears off: dolyak is still on, VwK is still recharging -> Ignorance wears off: hit VwK, Dolyak is still on -> Ignorance wears off: hit Dolyak, VwK is still on -> Repeat until they are all dead
Use Vengeful weapon only if they interrupt your VwK 2 times - it will drain your energy faster than the mindblades :P

they don't start to drain your energy, until you are not under ~10 energy
I'll have some time now to play, so I'll try to farm the mindflays too - I'll let you know if it can be done.

edit: and don't aggro dream riders and spectres at the same time - they'll interrupt you almost for sure!
