Weird Shield Problem

I have a q10 str magmas shield with a mod on it for -3 damage while hexed. I want to put a +30 hp mod on it and it won't let me.

Any ideas?

Some items in prophecies cant be upgraded with handles, e.g eternal shields, i assume this is the only reason, unless anyone else has a better theory?

yeah if it dropped in tyria or cantha, its known as "uninscribable" and you cant change the inscription. shields are totally unchangeable, where weapons you can still change the prefix and suffix (like sundering and fortitude)

All Shields that dropped in Tyria or Factions, can't be upgraded.
(excluding reward chests)

Same for Wands. If it is inscribable, it will say so on the item. Either it will say:

Inscription: None
or
Inscription: Nothing To Fear

If it doesn't have anything mentioned at all for an inscription, then you cannot add a handle to it. Wands need the same thing to be able to apply a Wand Wrapping.

You can only upgrade an item if it has an inscription slot. That slot may be empty or have something, it doesn't matter, you can mod that item as much as you want, as many times as you want. If it does not have an inscription slot you cannot mod it at all.

Not completely true.
Any Nightfall or EotN-weapon can be modded, not matter if it has an inscription slot or not. But no one would ever do that, since you'd be missing 1 mod in your weapon^^

I think you just got an uninscribable shield. sry, you won't be able to put the handle on...
