The game and vent has run fine for ages. Now that I'ved moved and changed my internet provider (small university campus), the game lags intermittently with the ping spiking up to 2k-3k while I'm connected to pretty much any vent server. After disconnecting from the vent server, the game is fine again. The lag usually is worse when there are more teams in the match (I only PVP). I tried reformatting with a fresh copy of WinXP w/ all the updates and still have the problem. The connection is probably the culprit so what can i do w/ either the game or vent settings to remedy this problem. TIA.

I am unsure if vent has a setting to limit bandwidth usage and or channel codecs. (Team speak does) I rarely use vent and am at work, So I am unable to look at the settings. If you can, look to see if there is a setting that will allow you to choke vent down.
I would also run a continuos ping test either loop back address or a freinds comp. see what the times are. They should be fairly consistant. If The times are erratic or you have packet loss, it could be a issue with the universities connection. If this is the case you will need to contact the universities help desk.
