Hey, how about fixing Obstruction?

Take a good look at that picture...let it soak in.
What more can I say really? I was right there in the Random Arenas of this map. I couldn't hit the damn thing to get my adrenaline for my hammer attacks. I was standing in that spot, chucking a spear. I couldn't hit. I even moved around a bit, still obstructed. Eventually, I switched to my hammer and mowed her down, but this just shouldn't be happening over three years into the game later, am I right?
Some may say "QQ some more" but this isn't the only time I've had "Obstruction" when there clearly isn't any. My point is, either work on the mechanism that triggers "obstruction" a little more, or do not screw this up for GW2. I will be severely disappointed.

Im with you 100%. I play a ranger main and it happens ALL the time, especially if the enemy is on a bridge, mental amount of obstruction there, even though there is none. I often run right up to them, so im right on top of them, and still obstructed

Yeah. Players should not be obstructed if there's nothing obstructing the view.
If you can see it in first person, you can hit it.
If you can see it in first person, you can hit it.

Yeah, i hate it when that happens. I got up in a monks face in TA, shot off dshot to int WoH, and was obstructed. And I hadnt missed with d-shot the entire match ><

ON TOPIC: I agree. I remember I was playing a Ranger somewhere in Kaineng City, targeting an enemy with my arrows, and it kept saying "obstructed". It looked like to me that the area wasn't obstructed at all, and it looked like a clear line of site. Well, it came to pass that I figured out why there was obstruction: my target was right under a lip, and so, I couldn't hit him. Quite annoying, really.

I agree that it's totally stupid when you're right there in the enemy's face and it says your view is obstructed. They should remove it, but I'm guessing to do that they'd have to remove it altogether. And that wouldn't make sense, like how can arrows and spears (and all other weapons) shoot through walls? "Ow my head! Build a stronger wall!"

If a bridge is something you can go under, the game may consider it as an environment placeable like trees, and obstruct.
But there are bridges that do work correctly, even if you can go under them.
So what they must do is check both that work correctly and do not, compare them, and make the ones that do not work work like the ones that do work.

GW2 has to have a Z-axis for them to implement the jumping and crap they seem to think is required for a good game. We'll see by then whether they fixed it or ruined it even more.

this problem often occurs when you're on one side of an ARCHED bridge, and your target is on the other side. often if you change your camera view, you'll find that your target really IS obstructed by the curvature of the bridge surface.
however, this same obstruction code seems to affect bridges that are flat, which makes no sense.
