A pretty simple question, I think - I noticed that the camera zooms out much farther in Observer Mode than it does in regular game play. Can someone tell me if it is possible to twink the regular game cam so that it will zoom out as far as the Observer Mode cam does?

the higher your resolution, the further the camera seems to go (might aswell be some optical illusion).

Have never heard of any ways to trick the camera into scrolling out further than it's usual maximum though

I did few tests and it doesn't seem like resolution really affects the camera zoom. Here are three pictures I took in Lion's Arch in different resolutions.

Although the pictures in higher resolutions are bigger in screenshot, you can see that none of them seem to encompass any wider view of the city than others.

Also, the fact that I can zoom out so far in Observer mode already seems to suggest that it's something in the game - not the resolution - that's limiting my, eh, zoomability in regular gameplay.

Stupid question #1 - you know you can zoom in and out with the scroll (mouse) wheel, right?

Yes the camera in observer mode lets you zoom out a lot further than you can while playing a match. Would be nice if they implemented larger zoom for regular play, but there are probably reasons why they didn't.

Here's a thought - in game play you can zoom right in until you have a 'first-person' view and then you can zoom out so many 'steps'. In Observer mode, you can't zoom in to 1st person, so maybe you start from the closest viewpoint and still go x steps out, which is then farther out.
