Who We Are
The Blitzers are a casual, relaxed and slightly crazy group of friends who play the game because we enjoy it and each others company. Many of our members are either working or studying full time and guild wars is a place to relax and have some fun. We are a mature guild, but have no requirements with age - a 13 year old can act more mature than a 40 year old. There are also no requirements for the experience/character level of members, we are all beginners some time although you should be willing to learn.
We currently have about 30 active members.
The Blitzers cape changes on a regular basis with a competition run on the forums, all members can enter and vote! The only rule is the lightening bolt stays.
We have made our home on the Isle of Meditation and have all the NPC's (thanks to some guild fund-raising trips!)
We have a policy that real life comes first. Whether its a holiday, building a house, having a baby or boring things such as exams or a work deadline, our members know they have a group of friends waiting for them when they can play again.
We're a kurzick guild/alliance however we do not faction farm and have no requirements for anyone to donate faction.
We are a predominantly PvE guild, however there is some interest in starting some PvP teams in our alliance.
We often use our allies teamspeak and vent, however this is not a requirement for our members. It is often useful to listen to these for things like elite missions even if you don't have a microphone.
Our members play both independently and together. Many of us have our own little in-game goals, whether it be to get a character through a campaign, map an area or become a legendary survivor. However if one member asks for some help or some company, the rest of the guild will always be there to join in the journey. This has never been a requirement of our members, its just the way we are.
Whenever playing together, the most common answer to “what character/build do you want me to bring” is “Whatever you feel like playing”. Organised mayhem is more fun then set builds, but we nearly always complete our goal.
Over time our members lose their sanity and we have actually a warning of this in the application area of joining the Blitzers. We have been known to just suddenly go raiding towns in search of icecream and disturb the peace of our alliance members' guild halls to start a party.
As an international guild, with strong representation from Europe and Australia we often used to play on the international server, even going the backway to the underworld a couple of times. Now with the mixed servers it's much easier for us! Many of our members don't fit into classic timezones as they play at odd times. Due to the broad spectrum of availability and playing times most of our important communication is done over our forums and website.
The Blitzers run competitions and events for the guild and their like-minded alliance guilds. These run from various scrimmages to reverse droknar runs, scavenger hunts and our own quests. Problem solving and creativity are always encouraged. All events have a story behind them, whether it be guild members gone crazy from poisonous swap waters to dangerous bandits escaping with precious items from the Ascalon museum.
We do not play the game for the money or the fame. We play the game because we enjoy it and each other.
Guild History
Our heritage runs back about 6-7 years where the Blitzers were formed in an open source game called Planeshift. At the time all that was available in game was the ability to move around, chat, join a guild and collect rubies, emeralds and diamonds. While that might seem a very limited environment compared to guild wars, we made our own games, stories, challenges etc. Being part of the community was the what our members enjoyed. This tradition continues through the Blitzers family now playing in guild wars, planeshift and everquest.
The other two sections of the guild can be found:
Planeshift Blitzers
Everquest2 Blitzers
The Guild Wars section managed to become Guild of the week last year!
Guild Structure
We have one leader of the guild.
A Consul sits under the guild leader and advises.
Council members are officers and are responsible for guild decisions and providing information and encouragement to lower members.
Members are members who have been in the guild for longer then a month and approved by the guild
Applicant members are members who have newly joined.
If you wish to know any more information don't hesitate to either sign-up and ask on our forums, pm me on here, or pm an officer or the guild leader in game, these can be found in the member list.
We hope to see you soon.
