Your Sweetest Dream

Pink Flying Flaming Donkeys Of [BoBo]

I was in UW and we JUST completed our 10 of 10 quests with 2 ecto still on the ground and my end chest still unopened when I (and my entire party) DCed. I tried to reconnect 4 times before exiting the program all together. This happened to another person in the party too. Upon restarting the program GW gave me the following error:

Quote:
Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers. This is very likely caused by an internet routing issue.

If this problem persists, please visit the Guild Wars support website. (Code=058)
I visited the website, and read the FAQ thing. Changing my firewall settings didn't do anything and I don't know how to change the router settings nor do I want to try to without knowing how and mess up my internet period. My internet provider is AT&T so if anyone knows about their internet set-up that could help me out I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

I've been trying to get on just now, the same thing happened to me. I think I know what it is...

Keep in mind that there are a lot of "routers" between you and ANet. When they say "an internet routing issue", they are not referring to your home router.
Many people forget that the internet is not just a cable that runs directly from your house to the GW server. There can be dozens of "routers" along the way. These "routers" are similar in function to your home router, but they are more like actual servers. Like your home router they look at the packets going through and determine where they should go next. If one of them goes down it can cause all sorts of havoc. If the router is in your local ISP's system, or at the other end, it can result in the inability to reconnect (as in your case). If the router is somewhere in between, it can usually be bypassed by taking another route (which can result in higher pings or more lag).
This is why sometimes you can't connect to only a particular game(s) and/or websites, but the rest of the net is fine.

An analogy - highways. Sometimes there is construction and you need to take a detour. Sometimes a main bridge goes out and traffic is stopped.
