Which one is better?
I know Monks have a variety of choices and can farm almost anything (almost). But Necromancers can farm in the Underworld, and despite it being nerfed, they still make a ton of cash.

So which is better, 55 Monk or 55 SS Necro?

Tyria. But I can farm in the UW (but I'm afraid of the life stealing some monsters have :P).

Monk is more overall versatile. Don't forget that a Monk can run Mo/N, still be more resilient, and use SS or SV for stronger offense.

Well monks are more flexible and can be deployed in more areas, whereas necro's do more damage if mastered well.

Thanks. Since I'm a beginner 55 farmer, I'll go with Monk, and maybe have a Necro secondary.

Technically for survivability 55 monk is better on the one hand but on the other hand 55 necro will deal more damage.
I have both and also a 55 mesmer ( got bored one day and fancied a laugh ) but i use them in different places - 55 monk in gok/bergen/fahranur ( anywhere with undead ) but 55 necro i use sometimes for solo boss and a few other places.
55 monk with sv and necrosis if you have nightfall is a gd mixture.
There is a thread somewhere to do with a necro farming guide and that covers 55 necro and that may help with where/which to farm with.
Some will say why have 1 when you can have both
