hey i was just curious if there is a quicker way with the perma base to farm the plains? im using the standard burning speed build and it works fine but i swear to all things holy i could fall asleep while im doin it. is there a way to speed it up? i think i could drop fire attunement. i dont use it all that much plus i usually have a cupcake fired up.

ive noticed scatter is now an issue, along with the fact the spectre are now wanding little freaks. anyone have any clever tricks to chop these mofos down.

not using fire attunement is fail

umm if you are that imnpateint you are getting so bored whiel running to chaos plains you should probably find somewhere else to farm :P

and when they scatter as soon as they do just regroup them so they are next to eachother again its slower now but it still works

ok lets take obsidians two points one at a time.

A. i didnt say i was getting bored running there. running there is actually the only interesting part. its the killing process thats slow as all hell. the spectre do not bunch, you can sort of pull them along until they bunch the run up and they stay put somewhat. until you use LF.

B. minus attunement is definately not fail. i have 63 energy w/out the cake so energy isnt an issue. i think the slot would be better served with some sort of damage skill that wouldnt scatter them.

thus the reason for my post. i was hoping someone might have an idea or an alternate build that would be more efficient. and if you think this is efficient you my friend need to share the weed. If you could spam lava font and Bspeed without scatter, AND they were still melee' primary attack monsters this wouldnt even be an issue. so if you read this post then refer to the OP and the question still stands.

O ecto i understand what you were saying but it didnt address the questions i had. i DO NOT feel attunement is required and i like the run there. its just standing there for an eternity killing one guy then 3 then 6 then 9.

time spent on run is well over an hour. if you are using the BS build and are getting it done much faster please let me know how you are accomplishing this. thanks in advance.

If they are scattering, try getting ur hp down to about 45 using burning speed to degen you there. The AI is designed to not scatter if they think they can kill you, and that is exploitable by having low HP, lower is better, but 45 is usually a safe bet.

Fire attunement helps because it reduces the cost of burning speed to 6, and when used under GolE you gain 8 energy. Basically the idea of it is to allow you to have more enegy management, thats fine replace it, but I personally cant think of another skill thats better then it for that slot.

Finally more energy =/= emanagement, just so you know. I dunno, but given the slight nerf revert, it may be worth using lava font again as its damage was good. But I dont do this farm often so I cant commment.

Having below 25% health won't cause any scatter.
I haven't farmed the UW for some time, but if the mindblades are wanding now, you can still easily get them in the same spot. Just walk away from them and they ball up. If they get on a line, just walk 90 degrees in another direction and they will ball up by themselves.

I use Sliver Armor with Ebon Battle Standard of Honor now, on HM. Spectres don't scatter from that because they're wanding now. It starts off rather slow, but once you get what I call a 'firing squad' going, you're golden.

And with a 'firing squad', I mean a spawn of 9 spectres. Drag them to the next dreamrider and use their attacks to feed your Sliver Armor's damage output to kill the rider and his lords. Also use them to kill their smaller spectre spawns. (The groups of 3 and 6)

Once a new group of 9 spectres spawns, use that group's attacks to kill your original 9. Drag this new group to the next Dreamrider and repeat the process until the plains are cleared. If you plot a good course from rider to rider, you'll always be able to drag a group of 9 to the next rider.

Herding spectres is pretty easy on HM, they're faster and don't lose your tail as easily. You can drag them along pretty far.

And how long does this firing squad method take to clear the plains Gli?

I can only guess. I've only done it twice. The first time, I made it up as I went along and it wasn't as efficient as it could be. The second time, I planned ahead how to progress from rider to rider. Both times I spent a lot of time afk though, so I'm not sure how long it effectively took me. My best guess is, about an hour or so. Maybe a bit more. However long it takes, it's pretty much worth it on HM.

I'll time my next run.

OK OK thanks for the input thus far. i got a pretty good idea how to bunch them up and speed things up that way. Now i see people saying HM, so am i correct in saying that the burning speed build works in hard mode? ive been doin this on NM. if it can be done in HM i have 2 questions, 1. do you need to adjust the run and or kill method? and 2. are consumables involved. i only use cupe cakes for the energy boostage. thanks

Don't mean to go off topic, hijack this thread or sound disrespectful, but wouldn't it be easier to farm ectos somewhere else? I've been doing almost the exact same build (Death's Charge in place of Burning Speed) at tombs and it's been pretty profitable. I started doing that LATE Wednesday night (I knew exactly how much $$ I had after buying enough Charlices for a blindfold) and by Sunday night when I logged off I've gotten 65 ectos, about 115K in cash selling loots, 7 stacks of mat from salvaging highly salvageable items (mix of iron, wood, dust), bunch mesmer/ele tomes, about 10 lockpicks and a few good gold items (req 9 fellblade 15%-5e, req 9 stormbow 15%^50 etc., given they aren't inscribable). During those 4 days I did this run about 85% time I was on GW, took a break inbetween helping guildies with missions and also did a full UW run Saturday night/Sunday morning. All I do is go in kill the 6 Dryders and 3 Riders with Sliver on first level then repeat, each run only takes 3.xx mins on average and it takes about 30-45 mins to completely fill up my inventory (38 available slots), best of all this run is EASIER in HM and don't have to worry about losing the 1K entry fee if Behemoth blocks the way or I mess up SF and accidentally die.

Chrono you will get no arguments from me. i have done tombs ALOT in the past and its a quick run. i just liked the plains due to the enormouos number of monsters that drop ecto in one spot. that run in the plains was very very profitable before the nerf. NOW since they got rid of the cursed (at least i didnt run into any last time) again it could be another great run if it werent for the slow grind of killing. The question still stands can plains be done in hard mode? i couldnt get the grasping to stick around long enough to kill them in HM, they scatter like crazy once you light there arses on fire.

i think im off to the tombs.
