Which is more profitable: Selling unid armors, or IDing them and merching the runes?
The Primeval King
I'm farming in a hard mode area where alot of gold armors drop. Would it be more profitable for me to sell them unidentified, or ID them and sell the runes?
Thanks
Thanks

I would think that just ID'ing them is more profitable in the long run. Even if you get insignias on them like the survivor's or radiant, you're looking at around 1k from those insignias.
Plus...wisdom points don't hurt.

i always id my max items simply just for the "chance" of getting a 1k+ worth rune and for the title
its pretty much up to yourself
selling unid is probably more proffitable on short term
on long term i would say identifying
it's up to you

Well if you want to make the most money out of it, you can sell it unid for like 1k each, which takes spamming and time. If i were you, id just ID it, if the runes cost a lot at the trader, salvage then sell, otherwise they are usually expensive when you sell to the merchant (~300-400gea) plus you get 1 point to the wisdom title.

A year ago my answer would have been different, but gold armor drops yeild a random superior rune. If you look at the prices of 95% of the superior runes available they are 100g at Rune Trader. Thus, identifying them will almost certainly result in a rune that will not be worth salvaging and you will end up selling the identified rune to the merchant for 350g or less.
In contrast, a unidentified gold armor can be sold to another player for 700g (current price) each.
So, 95% of the time you will make twice as much money by not identifying the rune and instead simply selling it unid to another player.
It is funny to think that nowadays, I get more excited about the blue armor drops than either the purple or gold ones.
Note: All this goes out the window if you are after the title and not the cash. In that case, of course you would identify them.
Good luck!

I agree with GWEXTREEMFAN **edit** and with Eradis **end edit**, if you need the cash right now and don't care about the Wisdom title then selling them un-id'ed is the fastest way to get cash. There are just so few runes now days are worth anyting.

All depends, if u looking for a guarantee money then sell unid. But if you ID, you get the ID point and a chance of a good rune. Radiant, survivor, attunement and the other lil hp booster is most common, even among blue armors.
Personally I ID myself and merch

I ID them because it adds a little excitement and surprise to the game when I get a Superior Vigor rune.

You get insignias on the armor too remember P King, so survivor and radiant ones go for a nice quick extra bit of cash at rune traders.

Plus...wisdom points don't hurt. Survivors possibly - radiants haven't been around 1k in AGES.

Depends on the runes. :P

In the long run, selling the unidentified golds is much more profitable than IDing them yourself.

You only know what runes the armor has if you identify them. So that kind of defeats the entire purpose of the guys thread...

I think you'd actually make more selling them as unids for roughly 700-800 each. As more than likely, you won't get a superior vigor every ten golds to make up for it. Hell, in 27 months, I still have never got a superior vigor on a rune. I only have 400 or so golds identified on my main, plus over 100 on another deleted character, but it's just because I hate PvE.
=]
My friend has identified over 1200 (he earned them all) and has got one superior vigor out of the many armors.
So, in the average, selling them undid is way more effective in terms of money making.

I used to ID them for wisdom and after getting to R3 of the title, i regretted it. I realised i was making an average of 350g per item
Now, unless you can farm 10,000 golds for the max wisdom title( If thats what you want), i seriously reccomend you sell them. Out of about 1000 Unids, i have come across 2 superior vigors. Its not worth the gamble imo
A piece of merchanting advice. When you sell them, dont sit in kamadan spamming unids 700g 5k for 7, put them on ventari section and sell them for 700- 900. Remember, the more Unids you sell at a time, the more you are likely to get for them. When selling under 100 of them 700 is fair, but when you start with big numbers of unids like 500 for example, then you start really making money.

As has been said, unless you get a sup vigor, you're probably going to be disappointed by the sell price of the rune. Your biggest hope is for radiant/survivor insignias (stonefist/bloodstaines/sentinel's and others also are worth salvaging)
Actually, rune $$$ is in minors now! Monk minors, energy storage and others all sell well.
EDIT: to answer the question, selling Unid'd is much more likely to yield more cash.

This is what id call a hit/miss topic -
You can make money via either but you can miss out selling unids if they have a high price rune/upgrade.
By accident i found an old titan garb unid and after carefull thought i decided to id it - im glad i didnt sell it as it was sup vigor rune.
If you farm a certain place you tend to learn whuch types of unids drop as well as rune drops ... eg witmans folly and north kryta province both have managed to make me 50k in 3 days of relaxed farming and i id all runes/weapons and plainly sold bk to merchant and i had maybe 10 - 20 vigor runes ( minor/major) which were a nice price.
End of day its a matter of personal choice but you will feel gutted when someone buys the unids and then tells you when they find high price mods/runes and it does happen - luxon garbs ive been lucky with as 3 i bought had sup vigor and i decided to let the seller kno he may be better id them and he said he knew they had a high chance and congratulated me and asked if i wanted more.

For most runes just id and sell armor and do not salvage rune
just check the trader before you do anything
but most of them are only 100g anyways and will not net a profit if u salvage.

eradis i have to disagree. keeping it unid will be best if you know a guy trying to max the title so you can sell them to him whenever. if you just gonna stand in kamaden and spam that might take more time than it would take to make the monye you would earn from any ramdon stuff
