I am on my last free character slot and I am deciding whether I should make a beast master with my focus on [Enraged Lunge] or a [Shatterstone] water elementalist.
Can somebody help me decide the different uses of the professions and what would be worth more committing to?
Should I make a Beastmaster Ranger or Water Elementalist?

Depends. With the recent Ursan Nerf, Elementalists are in a LOT of demand right now...Obsi tanks, Terras for UW SCs, FoW nukers etc. However, after badmouthing rangers for a long time, and I decided to finally make one. And I've never had so much fun playing GW as I do on the ranger...landing a D-Shot on that monk boss casting RoF or completely shutting down a monk, ele and necro in RA is much more fun than grinding elite dungeon areas all day, IMO.
Oh and as far as beastmastery is concerned, its a waste of time. Don't do it. Trust me, you'll regret the money/time spent getting into that.

[skill]Great Dwarf Weapon[/skill][skill]Scavenger Strike[/skill]
Put GDW on your pet. Good damage, lots of KD's. Scav Strike is now the first and only non elite e-mangement in Beast mastery after the last update.
Best Water skill in PvE is Deep Freeze, and that can be run at 0 spec. The rest of water magic isn't very suited for PvE.
If you're actually gonna use something besides those 2 skills, I'd probably say Ele for general use, but BHA ranger is still good. Not talkin about farming either - I never make chars based on how well they farm.

you don't have a ranger or ele?
well, reason for asking is, if you don't have them you need to get another slot and make both! because they are both very fun to play!
if getting new slot is not an option, i suggest you make a ranger first, endless possibility!
althought ele has the same but yay pets!

They are underpowered because you lose 2 skills just to bring a pet, and pets have issues attacking and staying on targets. For some reason they run all the way back to you after killing the current target before attacking the next target.

Well imo, beast master is kind of under powered. Pets are a lot of fun to have though. My build uses about half of my skills for my pet and the rest for me. It is not a good farming build but that is why we are allowed to have more then one char. My ranger is purely for fun. It is an extremely fun class to play. Have fun with your ranger and if you want to farm use another char.

In the end all of these are just biased and based on personal opinion. You are just going to have to try them both for yourself. Personally I think Rangers are EXTREMELY boring, but thats just and me and that's why theres multiple classes, in theory there is something for everyone. If it were me I'd go with just because of all the different things you can do. You can make water, air, earth and fire builds. Plus if you are into farming I think it'd be the better choice.
