Graphics Problem
fenix
So I just got my new PC working last night, and this morning noticed GW has some problems. I've updated to the newest drivers for the graphics card, but still happens. Hardware is;
MSI 512mb NX8800GT
Gigabyte EP45 DS3 motherboard
Core2Duo E8400
2gb Kingston 800Mhz RAM
Power supply is 430 watt, which is enough apparently.
I was alt-tabbed from the Windowed game, and suddenly the screen flashed, and when I alt tabbed back it had done this;

It will then lag hard and get even worse if I try to move about. Doesn't do this on full screen mode. Also, it can do this when not alt-tabbed, but I haven't tried.

Looks like some serious artifacts you got there. A friend of me allso got things like this, only less problematic. Flashing your motherboard might help as it probably is a hardware problem. Or contact your graphics card manufacterer if they have newer firmware for your card.
Did you test other games allready? If problems get worse, your graphics card may suffer from the death on arrival-syndrome and you should contact your computer shop.
EDIT: now I look closer, it looks a lot like a 2D-renderer failure. As most of your 'HUD' is corrupted, and that's 2D. Allso some textures seem to be failing, but not all of it. I don't think it will help, but have you allready tried re-downloading all of Guild Wars?

Im having the same crap
And another person here
I think its started happening because of something that changed in a recent guildwars update, its likely graphics driver related because i had some success with newer gforce drivers from http://downloads.guru3d.com/, but i still get corruption from time to time.

all seem to be geforce cards.
at this point, it'll be a good idea to just as rahja. if anyone knows what's up, it's him.

Try using nvidia's brilliant driver auto update.
fenix
Just had the same thing happen with Bioshock.
My drivers are up to date, 175.19, which is the newest right?
EDIT: GTA:SA did it too...

Ive been told its because nVidia dont update their site.

I downloaded the actual forceware update, which IS on the site, just at a different place. Seems to have fixed the problem in Bioshock. No change to GW though...
fenix
Updated to 177.89, still being dumb. GW explodes, CoD4 crashes, Bioshock explodes, San Andreas explodes.

I've done some reading and still NO idea what this is...and even with a driver update released yesterday it's still bad.
EDIT:
Just ran GW, it appears to be working fine. I then set the Affinity to 1 core, and seems to be stable, hasn't crashed or broken any textures.
EDIT2:
San Andreas works now.
EDIT3:
Bioshock went kapow with textures.
EDIT4:
CoD4 seems pretty stable with 16x AA and 16x AF at max everything else. No problems.

I really think it's your mobo's BIOS, your Graphics Card, or your Power Supply, my other computer runs off of a 430w PSU with a single rail at 18 amps.
The 8600GT in that computer says that it requires a 22 Amp rail at the minimum, it still runs, but I honestly feel like I'm pushing it and probably working that power supply to it's doom by doing it, I'd feel better if it had some more juice to supply the minimum requirements.
I don't know what PSU you are running, and I'm not sure if it would be the problem but it's just a random suspicion, because an 8800Gt takes up a lot more juice and it could just be under powered causing it to screw up in games and run slow possibly.

The Intel P45 chipset has some issues with acceleration and GPU interfacing. Update the motherboard BIOS, it should fix it.
fenix
So I upgraded BIOS and GW started shitting itself again...any ideas?

I have had no luck with ant geforce force drivers other than the 169.25 for GW. (I am currently running my mobos latest drivers, something I was reluctant to do.) I fast fix may be to reload the drivers that are known to work.
