Non-Inscribable Drop in GWEN?

Hey, I just got a r9 pyroclastic axe from Rands chest, and it was Not inscribable. From what I have seen and heard, all drops from EoTN are inscribable. Was mine bugged or am I wrong about them dropping like this? Thanks

Is it Green? Green items are noninscribable

And just to add to that, NO not all are inscribable. Sometimes even Golds drop without the slot to add an inscription on them.

No, its not a Green. Its a Gold Pyroclastic Axe. Officially my first non inscribable drop from EoTN. Thanks for the input. How disappointing.

@ the OP: Did it have a Deathbane mod? (+dmg vs undead)

If yes that could be it.

When Deathbane is on a weapon there's a high chance of not being inscrib or have a damage bonus. Old Bug that never been fixed what the hell are they waiting for?

I've had a few things drop that weren't inscribable. I couldn't tell you what they were because they went right to the merch.

Well, can't be 3 years old since they didn't have inscriptions until around 2 years ago, but anyways.......I have had many uninscribeable weapons drop in dungeons and no deathbane mod, sucks. What's worse, in HM even.

It also seems to prevent prefix mods as well, so it is pretty much that old.

And yes, I've had non-deathbane uninscribables drop for me. Sucks, but it happens.

What makes you think it's a bug? Just because you don't like, doesn't make it a "bug", it could be just a normal, intentional part of the randomness of drops/chests. Before Inscriptions, items with no inherent mod were normal.

I saw a while back someone got an Eternal Blade r9... no inscription slot.

They were quite upset =(

Alright... here is the thing. Its not a bug. You are confused about terms.


There is a difference between "non-inscribable" and "no inscription slot."

Your weapon has "no inscription slot." Ie, it doesn't have a +15% damage, and no way to add one to it.

"Non-inscribable" weapons DO have stuff like +15% damage, but they are inherient to the weapon and can not be changed or salvaged off.


Non-inscribable weapons drop in Factions and Phrophecies.

Weapons with or without incription slots drop in Nightfall and GW:EN.

Fixed a bug that caused some high-end weapons to be created without an inscription slot if they had the Deathbane property.
