ESL offers new competitions for Guild Wars
ESL|Paddel
Hey guys,
we want to inform you because the Electronic Sports League (ESL) reopened their Guild Wars section and now offers a lot of cool competition. This starts with small cups and a ladder for the 4on4 modus and ends up in premierships for ambitious 8on8 teams.
For 8on8 teams we have the following competitions:
- 8on8 Cup Series Cups (qualification for ESL Major Series)
- 8on8 ESL Amateur Series (weekly matches, prizes in kind and possible qualification for EMS Season 2)
- 8on8 ESL Major Series (league with 12 qualified teams, offline finals and prize money!)
The ESL Major Series is open for all european teams. International teams may join as well if they take the travel expenses from outside of europe on their own (if they qualify for offline finals). So if your team wants to play in the highest GW league that is offered by the ESL you just need to qualify through one of the 8on8 cups!
All information can be found in the ESL. I would also like to answer your questions directly in this topic.

I'd also like to mention that ESL is having an invitational tournament at the Games Convention next week:

NCsoft Europe have invited top guilds to compete in front of a huge e-sports audience, so if you're going to Leipzig, definitely check it out.

All competitions besides ESL Major Series (the one with offline finals) is free for all! The ESL Major Series is also open for teams outside of Europe if they agree on paying their entire travel expenses outside of Europe.
@Lonesamurai
We just restarted our Guild Wars section and do not have a lot of connections yet. If you got some good links we will try our best to get coverages on board

My only real dissapointment with GW was that GW never took off like CS, in the e-sport scene. This game was designed for competitive gaming.
Honestly I blame the poor torturial and steep learning curve. Let that be a lesson for GW2, if you want it to succed. So many players never got into the PvP because they did not understand it, because it was not explained well. Both in skill description, variaty in animations(you cant tell the moves and abillities apart) and just general rules.
Maybe if there had only been one single kind of pvp. and not multiple. Then maybe more people would have flocked towards mastering one mode, instead of growing tired of many.
Such a darn shame.

Anyway, support for GW is always nice. Hope it ends being something that lasts and gets GvG going again. Seeing as it is on life support for some time already.
