--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi I am new to guild wars, I bought the starter pack about two weeks ago and found the quests enjoyable to such a degree that I then purchased the guild wars game proper and registered the activation number printed on the game card and added it to my account.when I bought the starter pack I was informed that I had about 15 hours play time and my pack would expire,I thought by purchasing the Gamewars game and registering it I would then have unlimited game time but I am still informed that I have aproximately 6 hours play time left, what will happen when this gets to zero???.
My second question relates to the game itself. I have reached level eight in the game, my chosen skill is ranger / elementalist and my quest is to gain the ranger's insignia in four stages I have now been trying to get this insignia for at least 4 hours playing time and am defeated in every instance, to such a point that I am considering consigning my Guild Wars CD's to my garden as bird scarers as although I initially enjoyed playing the game this endless returning to the monastary to see instructor Ing and then returning to the Dojo for "instruction" only to be defeated for the 30th + time is to say the least frustrating and to the worst downright boring. as I have stated this was an enjoyable game but now as I am stuck on this insignia quest without any means of escape it seems my only way out is to remove it from my computor and try one of Guildwars competitors.
I do not wish to cheat but as I have been only playing this game for about 9 hours I am not yet experienced enough to work out a way past this brick wall and my frustration knows no bounds. you are my last resort.please help. regards Amorica Gem soon to be an ex Guild Wars player

I got a trail key for Nightfall, then got it a day or so later and the paragon was still there.
Ignore the message, you've already got the game, and the trial key is only saying 'i have this long to live'.
As for the insignia, i cant help you unless i know which quest your stuck at :P

What part of the insignia quest are you having trouble with?

I'm pretty sure it's not a mandatory quest.

The key to the Insignia quest is just to use the skill the trainer gives you for each section.
You need to snare Zho with Pin Down, for example, during the snaring part of the course and wear her down to about 30% health.
As Buzzer points out though, it is not mandatory; you can leave it alone, do another quest, and come back later if its cauing you trouble at the moment.

If you started playing on a trial account, and then added a full retail key to your account, you may ignore the warning. That warning just tells you when your trial expires, but since you now have a full retail account, the expiration no longer applies.

If this quest, "Ranger Insignia," is the one that is giving you trouble, then you may be interested to know that it is optional. You do not have to complete it in order to continue the story, and you may return at any time later. You can also just abandon it. Which part of the course is giving you difficulty? People here can help you better if you tell us which course you can not complete. If you would like tips on completing it, the unofficial wiki has walkthroughs for each part. If you want to solve it on your own, don't click this link: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ranger_Insignia

What level are you? the key to beating the insignia quests is, like said above, to use the skills the instructor gives you. An example would be the "Snare Test". In order to beat it you would use the skill Pin Down on Zho and finish her off while shes crippled. or a Ranger these tests should be pretty easy (since Rangers have quite a few defense stances to use during it) so i can only guess its your level.

The part of the quest I am having trouble with is the Skill chaining where you have to fight two "instructors" one uses a bow so will hit you at long distance and the other uses weapons for close combat. whilst I am firing arrows at one the other is kicking my ass and I am forever being beaten it seems like a ground hog day. as for abandoning the quest I have tried that but where will I get a new quest from ?as the only person who will talk to me is Headmaster Greico and the only thing he offers is Ranger insignia quest so I just keep going round in circles. the Game I am playing is the first one released as I felt I should start at the beginning the quests begin and end at the Shinhglea Monastary the level I am on is level eight the green bar is full but it will not complete.

For the Skill Chaining, you want to use Kindle Arrows and use Dual Shot to increase your DPS. You can use some of your other skills, like Throw Dirt to mitigate the damage from the other Instructor.
Have you been with Master Togo to Minister Cho's Estate yet? and if so, have you completed the mission there?

Guild Wars Prophecies (the name is usually just Guild Wars but they changed it after Factions was released) is the first game in the series followed by Guild Wars Factions.

After you've completed Minister Chos the next quest is "Warning the Tengu" from Ang the Ephemeral in Ran Musu Gardens.

For the Skill Chaining i would recommend using [Whirling Defense] which you should of got from a previous quest. Use that and attack the Melee NPC. Once hes defeated turn your attention to the Ranger and finish him off.

Be sure to have [Troll Unguent] on your bar for healing and if you can grab [Apply Poison] from the skill trainer in Shing Jea Monastary.

The game I have is called just "guild Wars" but I suspect the starter pack is something else.(possibly Factions) have tried the skills recommended by Free Runner have been defeated at least 12 times since, so must be a rubbish player, I will try for another hour or so then I will probably give up and go back to free cell or something that I can win, as I am just getting fed up with continually being defeated and have wasted at least 8 hours trying to get past this quest

I think you can just ignore those quests, do main ones and when you are level 15-17 you can come back. I did those quests on my Ritualist when i was 20 and they were extremely easy.

Btw, wrong place to post things like that. Either Questions and Answers for questions about game, trial codes and so on, or Ranger section of The Campfire for quests for rangers.

For advanced defense course just use the same tactics. Like said a few times the quest isnt needed but it does open up a Ranger-only quest.

please excuse my ignorance but I have abandoned these quests a few times and have searched the monastary for fresh ones, but the only person who will talk to my charactor is headmaster Greico and the only thing he offers is for me to visit Ng for Ranger insignia. how do I find fresh quests please. I have been to see Togo but am told to see Greico so again I am running around in circles.

After you've completed Minister Chos Estate (the 1st Mission) in order to continue with the story you must take the quest "Warning the Tengu" from Ang the Ephemeral in Ran Musu Gardens. When you complete missions always look around the outpost you've been put into for quests as one of them could be a Primary Quest.

Yeah, on the starter Island, ensure you do as many quests as possible, also, for the most XP. Two of the quests are Attribute quests which will give you 15 Attribute Points to help you alot as you progress in the game, especially at level 20 when you become familiar with the ins-and-outs of the game and the different builds that can be used.
