A minipet experience

I'm on 4/5 temple guardians.. out of 9 characters. . 8 temple guardians, now that would really have sucked.

Don't feel bad, I have gotten 7 Whiptail Devouers. , and the rest were white
except for a purple kirin.

Mini Kirin is the "rarest" I've gotten. All else white.

My first two characters to hit one year got Mini Shiros. Everyone else got whites or purples. Kurenai got a Mini Gwen (which I'd wanted since I found out it existed), and my necro got a mini Mandragor. The next character in line isn't due for a birthday until October...

Actually, all of my first year minipets on three characters were Fungal Wallows. My only character to hit year two got a Mini Gwen however.

opened a titan today....have a bunch of bdays in the next 2 weeks ...but will have to wait until I get back to my computer....some 3rd years (hope for an arrgh or spider, or oooze).

10 characters and all have hit their first birthday. Two have had their third and four have had their second. I have a grand total of two duplicates and they were purples (titans).

Otherwise my luck has run towards yours - I have found a grand total of one true rare in my time in GW (an elemental sword) and it was non-inscribable and, therefore, worthless. There are still a number of plain old minor runes I still have not unlocked, I have found a grand total of three sup vigors and four sup absorption (and with all but one of them well after the market fell out from under them) in three years of play and many many hours of farming. It has been over a year since I have had a minor vigor drop.

Do not get my started on my abysmal rate of both ecto drops (with both my ele and sin) and how many times my perma sin has encountered behemoths totally blocking the path and me wasting 1k to get there. After a good 10 hours or so of farming my total profits are a whopping 15k or so - better off farming vaettir.

Luck happens both ways - in a game with as many people as GW has there will be extremes on each side. It can either suck or be great if you are there and for those of us that always seem in the "suck" zone it is frustrating. But then it has to happen to someone. Just keep plugging away and *most likely* it will go away - but even then *someone* has to have it not go away too. I'm just happy I have at least one part of game go towards the lucky end.

Actually i used to write programming for casino slot machines.One thing i learned is that it is impossible to write code to generate random numbers. Random number generators are never random, just very very very complex.

I have not received any duplicate pets on any of my characters.

I'm not so much bothered by the fact that they are fungal wallows (although they are the single ugliest creation on the planet...would have preferred 8 whiptails), I am complaining about the stupidness of 8 of the same. And yeah, if they were like, 8 Bone Dragons, I wouldn't be AS peeved.

But I don't buy minipets. Ever. And whilst collecting is not something I take beyond armor and shiny weapons, it would be nice to be able to proudly display something other than an army of angry green blobs.

So yes, I would still be miffed to a degree if I had got 8 of a purple or whatever. My Para hits 1 year in a week or two, and I will be posting (in this thread) if she recieves my 9th Fungal Wallow.

Technically, the numbers generated by a computer aren't random. There is always a predictable pattern, even if it is monumentally vast (which it is). It's one of the reasons the lottery isn't drawn by computer.

Yeah yeah yeah, all this crap about number generators not technically being random are just people repeating what they've heard on wikipedia.

Anybody who actually studies high end math and computer science knows that random number generators, though not "random" in the SCIENTIFIC sense of the word, are "random" in the colloqueal sense that everybody on this page is talking about.

Uh...what? How do you "farm" mini pets? I got none of that. And yes it would be cool to get duplicates of the green or gold minis but I'd rather see it be that if your account gets one mini on a birthday it shouldn't get it again rather than take the chance at having duplicate whites that no one wants and are impossible to sell. You can't even merch the little buggers.

By farming he means he has 28 characters that get a minipet each year. So each year he "farms" or gets, 28 minipets.

Yet still he calls it 'hard work'

well, you can call it "farming" minipets aswell if you farm gemsets, buy coffers, try get mallyx, or do HA, try get ghostly, or that black moa thingy ;D

I've gotten duplicates of a couple different minis across the 35 chars my fiance and I have. I think we've had like 4 temple guardians, 4 seige turtles, 3 whiptails, and a couple of trolls. I got lucky and got a shiro and a rurik on my main account. =)

year 1 - temple guardian x 3
year 2 - fire imp x 2, juggarnaut x 2

Those are my repeats.

I guess some peoples definition of hard work differs from others. oO
