I did my research and found that I can hook up my 360 to my monitor.

My question is can the monitor support HD? Like can i still play games at 1080i or p on a monitor?

In other words, will I be sacrificing quality if i hook up my 360 to my monitor.

No, not really. If I remember correctly, monitors were built to support the progressive scans. I may be wrong on this, though...

However, if you have one of those fancy-smancy monitors, that has TV input or whatever, and supports HD, then you already have an HD thing... o_O;

The monitor would have to be able to support the rez of the XBox - whatever that is - or the XBox would have to be set to a rez the monitor supports, if possible. I know squat about XBox's

Most LCD monitors support High Definition (via HDMI, VGA, or DVI), but they run at 720p with certain resolutions. Also, the sound part of the 360 monitor cables are just standard Red and White RCA plugs (the plugs that plug into a TV). The cable comes with an adapter that allows you to plug into a speaker that allows for a male jack plug (such as some speakers built into a computer monitor). To use your speaker set, you'll have to buy a Y Adapter that has a female port for a jack plug and female ports for RCA plugs.

EDIT: Oops, linked to the wrong cable.

i was over at my friend's place this weekend, and we were playing halo3 on his 22" monitor. we had to run it at a non-native resolution though, since the xbox 360 apparently does not support 1680x1050 resolution.

Apparently the next dashboard update will in fact support 1440x900, 1680x1050 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions.

Also, most of the time when you're hooking a current gen console to a monitor, going up to 1080i/p will NOT "increase" the quality, because everything is rendered at 1:1 pixel ratio. I play my games on a 17" LCD that runs at 1280x1024 native, and it's super crisp because each pixel is at a 1:1 ratio, ie not stretched. The only time you would need to set your X360 to 1080i/p with a monitor is when your monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080. Oh, and I don't think your monitor can be interlaced, so it's automatically progressive. So in a nutshell, 1080p on a monitor != better quality.
